Stoufer, Editor of the La-throp Monitor, Lathrop Mo. made us a pleasant call monday. Mr Stoufer is visiting his brother W. S. Stoufer our genial township trustee, residing about 3 miles east of town.

He expresses himself as very favorably impressed with the appearance of our country, and predicts for it a grand future. Deacon, on returning from his claim last Sunday met with quite a serious accident, when within about six miles of town, he had occasion to dismount from the pony which he was riding, the animal ie-c-oming frightened or from pure cussedness let fly both feet, kicking John in the lower part of the stomach him badly. He lay bv the road side until found by two men who came along in a wagon and brought him to town. lie has since suffered intensely but the physician ho lias been attending him, thinks his chances for recovery favorable.
