Kansas is in luck. There is prosperity ahead for her farmers. The condition of crops, the source of the markets and the trend of all things seem to be in her arvor. The April report of the Department of Agriculture shows a low condition of the growing wheat crop, which indicates that the country will raise 30,000,000 bushels less this year than was raised last year. But in Kansas the conditions are good GOOD TABLES AND FRESH ROOMS.

A good many potatoes were planted last week. Mr. S. Elliot, of Garden City, was in District Court, 33rd Judicial District, Scott coun ty, ivausas tically demonetizes eilver once more, expects to call that bill up during the coining week and have it pass in the house. Con-greastnan Bland, of Missouri, in behalf of the minority of the committee, and in behalf of a vast majority of the people of this country, will protest against the action of the committee, and use every honorable means to prevent the passage of the Win Join bill.

Mr. Bland has already filed a very able and interesting document, for the committee, following the same lines he has always followed as a member of the House of Representatives, lie very plainly states that the majority are attempting to demonetize silver by stealth, as they did once before. The Windom bill provides that any owner of silver bullion, the product of our own mines, may deposit the same with any government deepository to be designated by the Secretary of the Treasury; that the Secretary shall be caused to be issued therefore, Treasury notes equal in nominal value to the price of bullion in the principal markets in the world. This bill repeals the present law, which compels the secretary to coin about $32,000,000 every year, and authorizes him to coin as much as $02,000,000 at the present price of the bullion. Moreover it leaves the subject of coining practically at the discretion of the Secretary of the Treasury, and if the bill passes there will be no law to compel the secretary to coin the bullion; so that, in fact, it demonetizes silver.

Inasmuch as this bill is about to be brought before the House for discussion, and passage, the people should understand just what it means. The audacity of the republican party in daring to bring forth such a measure as this, and at such a time, is simply astounding. Every school boy iu the land knows that a great majority of our people are anxious that we ehall Lave absolutely free coinage of silver, and every body who is familiar with legislation at the national Capitol is well aware of the fact that petitions have been received by both the Senate and House from every school district and township in the land praying for the passage of a law which will permit 'the free coinage of silver. It is well known that ever since silver was demonetized, gold has gone up nearlv forty per cent; that the demonetization of silver which acquires all money transactions to rest upon gold only, has given such a great demand tor gold as to nearly double its William Meigs, Plaintiff, 1 Valley last Monday selling school vs. Lucy M.

One boy who was lold enough and with an increased acreage that state promises to raise ten-million more bushels this year than last. The reduction in the crop of the country means an advance of 5 to 7 cents a bushel in prices. Kansas will, therefore, get more per bushel for this year's increased crop than she got last year for a much smaller crop.

Better than this is the fact that Kansas has held back a bigger percentage of last year's linje com crop than any other surplus-producing state in the Union. The rise in prices of corn which is now at hand, will therefore benefit her more than any other state. Cora is now selling nearly 4 cents higher than it Bold six weeks ago. The advance in wheat will probably carry prices of corn 1 or 2 cents higher. Kansas granaries are even now full to the roofs of corn as if the crop had just boen gathered.

The advance in prices will help the farmer immensely.
