Wavor Police Judge CWrk Marshal G. G. the affiable and gentlemanly book-keeper and. cashier at Hess Brothers establishment, was thought to be insane by his friends on Monday morning last "when he entered the store. After watching his peculiar actions for some time one of the clerks said, "Gordon what the ji 1 ails you?" Mr: Kennedy immediately got on top of the cashier's desk and announced in a fatherly and subdued tone that there was joy at his house and it was a boy that "kicked the beam" at 10 pounds.

He then set the cigars up to all present. The following complimentary notice of one of our new citizens we copy from the Malta Bend correspondence, of the Marshall, (Mo.) Progress: Doctor Tandy and family left for the west last Monday" morning. It was with regret that their many friends gave them the parting hand. It was not only the Doctor's patrons that were loath to see him leave, but the entire community were grieved to lose him from our midst. Should good wishes from this community avail him anything, then surely his success in the future wherever he may go will be abundant, for we but.

voice the sentiments of all who know him in commending him to the people amoag whom he may locate, as a perfect gentleman, and a physician whose success here has been gratifying to himself and entirely satisfactory to his patrons. Messrs. Pinney, Mudd gave a public exhibition of a "Paxton" traction engine and threshing machine on our streets on Tuesday of this week. For real fun and excitement it beat any circus parade we ever witnessed. train was officered as follows: General superintendent and master mechanic, A.

T. Mudd conductor, P. G. Pinney chief engineer, Zack Benell; fireman, Billy Schlegel brakeman, Kd. Coates.

The train started from the depot and run up to the public square in fine style at a gait of about ten miles an hour. Attached to the engine was one of Kingland Ferguson celebrated threshers, the top and every other available space was occupied by bo3's, who were enjoying the occasion aud having dead loads" of fun with the road cars. Messrs. Pinney, Mudd Co. purchased this machine for William Roberts, at a cost close on to $2000.

They have sold three of these machines this season, but this is the only oue that has been delivered at Fredonia. A brace of "lone fishermen" while meandering on the romantic banks of Fall river, at a late hour on Monday night last, discovered a varigated assortment of wearing apparel on the banks of the stream. They stopped and took an invoice of the salvage, which consisted of the following articles Two pair of tiny slippers, Ivo. 2k; one half-breed Mother Hubbard dress; one pink lawn dress, ruffled andflutted at the bottom, two pair of Doctor Warner's health corsets, No. IS; two pair of sky-blue hose, and sundry other articles "too numerous to mention." Hard by they also, discovered another pile of clothing, which consisted of two pair of regular men's pants; two straw hats; two pair of No.

8 button shoes; two white vests and a couple of linen dusters. The "fishermen" soon heard the trleeful voices of young folks in the rippling water just under the bank, and they hastily pulled out for their trot lines further up the stream. We won't mention the names of the party who were enjoying this little innocent amusement, but we hope they returned home cleaner and purer tiian when they started. The good old creature who publishes the Funijus, is somewhat elated De-cause the Times condescended to publish one of his articles entire. AVe owe our readers an apology torso doing, but then it is not more than right to, please the editor of the Funqiis in his second childhood, and we have always made it a rule to be kind and geue-rous to the weak and feeble, hether effected mentally or physically.

Physically, the old rooster of the Fungus is no slouch. He says the Times occupies the high position of being the organ of the republican "kickers," and stops short of saying The is not run for the amusement of the democratic party, and when the good of the Fungus thinks we are conducting a paper to get up a row in our own camp to let a few democrats sueak into office, he is sadly in error. In the language of the hoodlum, "we don't have to." He also says the Funrux is independent upon all subjects. Will the good old man republish a few of his temperance articles whicji he wrote when the Fun-was first established If it was not for worrying our readers with an over doso of clap-trap we would publish them in the.TiMi:s. The good old man's independence weaken- when his democratic advisors told him that temperance and Kansas democracy wouldn't mix, and immediately change his base of opp.eration against the-enemy.
