Can "use a wood beam or iron beam, right or left hand, large or small plow. 2d. It is light draft, as your team is coupled to the end of the beam, and no further from the draft than when plowing by hand. 3d. The plow is loose-geared.

This feature is a very important one, as it allows the wheels to run over lumps or uneven surfaces without throwing the plow out of the ground. It can be easily and instantly locked while the teani'isin motion, so as to force the rolling cutter through thick heavy cornstalks or trash of anv.Jdnd. 4th. The lever power for lifting out of the ground is so great that any boy capable of driving a team can manage it with perlect ease, can plow a square corner, or can change the depth of plowing at will without stopping the team. Farmers who have used this attachment claim that it plows the ground much better than it can be done without it; that it is vastly superior to any other riding plow made, on account of its lightness.

While it weighs only 200 pounds, the iron sulky plows weigh, 500 pounds. This is one reason why this machine is so much easier on the horses. The flexible, free motion of the plow, by reason of the double joint at the point of attachment, thus avoiding the rigid motion that all other riding plows have, is of vital importance, and is an additional reason for its light draft and perfect work. The light draft of Jacksonville has all these advantages. 43-wt All kinds of cigars kept bv llorton Bros, at their billiard hall.

In these days of sharp competition and progress, "it is well to be cautious in purchasing any article of merchandise, on the spur of the moment, or, upon the recommendation of others, who are not thoroughly posted. Especially is it so, as regards purchasing a sewing machine.

Friends and neighbors all think theirs the best, and do not hesitate to say so, when the fact may be, they have never seen the "Davis." Before buying a sewing machine, we advise every one to examine the new-high-arm Davis, and we are sure they will feel repaid for the effort. It seems almost incredible that, at this late date so much improvement were possible. If the present evidences of popularity continue, this new, model machine will have the greatest sale of any ever placed on the market. For sale by Finney, Mudd Co. Now is the Time to Dress Up.

"Good clothes don't make the man" is a true and. worthy old maxim, but nevertheless a man is not injured by wearing a good suit of clothes, and as there is now an opportunity offered our citizens to buy a fashionable and serviceable suit for one -half the price usually charged, we hope to see our citizens tone up a little on the dress. We visited the tailoring establishment of Newman, Miller on the northeast corner of the square yesterday, and were surprised to see the varied assortment of suitings they are offering for sale. They are making up the very best business suits, cut to measure at $20, the same class of goods usually costing to $40 per suit. The very best dress suits as good as can be found in St.

Louis or Chicago are made from $30 to $3-5. The buyer can see the goods in the piece and make his own selection, and his measure will be taken by a practical cutter, who is fully posted on the latest styles, and in Sheriff's Sale. The railroad assessment for 18S3 has been filed with County Clerk Tuttle, from which we learn that there are 26 oS-100 miles of main track in Wilson county, which is assessed, including depots, side-tracks, at $177,198.85. The value of the main track is placed at $5000 per mile; rolling stock $1259.40, the balance is for side-tracks, depots, round-houses, materials, The reverend grandmother, of the Democrat, last week pulls, out the second story of her store teeth and puts up a pitiful lip and charges the Timks with being personal. We would ask the demented old.fossil who commenced this personal racket He should not forget the injunction of the "that those who live in stone houses should notthrow.glasses." But the poor old, soul is in her datage, and should not be held responsible of anything she may say or do. The Longview Life Insurance company of Texas, has had a representative in, our city for the past two weeks. This company is rightly named, and we think after the advertising dodge of paying a few losses to "catch" a few-other soft snaps" is accomplished, the policy holders will have-to take a very lon view to ever their money back.

There is no doubt but that this company is a genuine "fuiide" affair, and we advise all people to leave it severally alone, and' not be fooled by oily tongued agents. Mr. Jesse Riags wiis down at Coy-ville in Wilson county last week and while passing through a ravine, shaded from the sun, his companion, he mail carrier, scooped away the leaves and cathead up hail, stones as large as town in North America. Finding a rest from the tasks of the study and the responsibilities of the parish absolutely necessary, I accepted the invitation of Bro.

W. W. Sholes to rusticate with him during atwo weeks' trip to his newly leased ranche in the eastern part of the Osage country. Less than two days easy driving brought us to the-ranche, the nearest point (the northeast corner where the tent ia-located) being something like twentv miles south of the state line, and three to five miles west oC this, place. There are 56,000 acres in.the enclosure, which is ten miles from east to est and nine and a half miles from north to south, the Sholes brothers having the undivided I could hardly imagine a better place for a pasture, or, considering the extent, one more conveniently located; The house which was being erected when we were there which.

will be the home of the attendant (I would say cow-boy if 1 thought J. M. Bronson would not see this) is but three miles from Bartles-ville, where there is a postolBce, gristmill, store and various shops. Not so far from civilization as might be. The range is very hilly and rocky, largely forests, interspersed with knolls of prairie from a few acres to several hundred in extent.

There is an entire absence of rock weed, but instead, thrifty grass. It-is well watered by perpetual springs and streams. Good shelter is found in the oanons. As a huntiug expedition my trip was not the most successful. I well knew at this time of year.the game would be old and wild and poor, bus I went to rest hunting being a secondary affair, and I rested until I was pretty thoroughly tired and came home refreshed.

While in camp and on the wajt, we had frequent feasts of quail, chicken, duck, squirrel, turkey etc. I had the privilege of but one shot at a deer and it was like Simple Simon's wild duck: wouldn't stay."
