Gladden, pastor of the First Baptist church of this city has resigned his pastorate and will accept a good position as pastor of The St. John Baptist church, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He has been pastor here for three years, and in that time has built up the work to a good point He professed religion in this place and has been a good church worker ever since.

His experience from travels over the world gives him a power not possessed by many men of his age-He came from North Carolina, in 1885, has visited Africa, and spent about four or five months in Liberia and in some of the free countries of West Africa. He will preach his farewell sermon, on Sunday January 24, and will leave for Colorado on the first of next month. The Beacon wishes him success in his new field of labor. Scnool Report. the Court held that for the part of the shortage occuring in his first term as treasurer was barred by the statute of limitation, and whereas we believe the court made a mistake in so holding, and whereas we desire the case thoroughly and carefully presented to the supreme court in favor of the County and by as able counsel as can be secured therefore be it resolved by the board of county commissioners that the sum of two hundred and twenty five dollors is hereby appropriated to employ assistant Counsel and pay expenses of printing and making briefs, or so much thereof bb may be necessary not exceeding sum named, to present said case to the Supreme court at as early a day as is possible to have the same heard, and the County Clerk is hereby ordered to draw a warrant on the county treasurer for the sum of $223 in favor of G. W. Nimocks to be used by him for the purpose above indicated and snid G. W. Nimocks is requested to employ A.

II Horton or other competent counsel to assist in trying said case in the Burpreme court and also to use part of 6aid sum to pay for making nnd printing briefs.
