The practice of the Western Times of asserting every week some new thing that our town company is go-iug-to do. without any authority whatever, may be meant all right and intended to boom the town, but we aro afraid it will have more influence the other way, as very few of the things they hav asserted will be done. The town company expect to begin extensive improvements here in tho near future, but have not informed the Times 01 any one else of what their improvements will consist.

Ita assertion regarding a court house here is entirely without foundation, as we learn from the town company that they have no such intentions and can use that amount of money to better advantage, in other ways and bo more roal value to the town. It publishes a short article which it has copied from some of its kicking exchanges to show the register of the land office that he must publish final proof notices in the paper nearest the land, and then offers to publish tiual proof and contest notices for half price. The fees paid for the same now are considerable below legal rales, and we are aurprised to see any publisher trying to cut them lower. It may be all right to tick aga'nst having notices published in a paper farther from the land, but it is very little and mean to try to cut ddwn the prices.

Wo received very few final proof notices and do not expect and will not ask any when there is a Democratic paper in the county, but we will tot be guilty of trying to cut clown the fees.
