Houston, J. P. De-Ford and Miss Delia Ladd visited the schools last Wednesday afternoon. Miss Cora Teters, of Frodonia, came down Wednesday and spent several days in this city, the guest of her friend, Miss Mamie Edwards. Last Thursday Mrs.

C. L. Brown opened the Brown Hotel by serving supper. We wish Mrs. Brown bountiful success on hor re-entering-hotel business again.

For the benefit of all citizens who thought that there was a charivari in town last Saturday night, we will say the Young America band was simply giving a course of serenades. Rev. Isaac Bowker. who has for many years been identified with the Baptist church in this vicinity, has for the second time transferred his membership to the Christian church. George Eliot is sa to have written 'Middlemarch" in four months.

What results when a cat is ill? Near Main AND Seventh Sts. Peerless- this week and will spend the next two weeks in reviewing. Bertha Woodall has decided not to go to Eureka Springs, and will return to school in a few days. This week closes the fifth month of school, and two more weeks comes the second term examination. Essie Holland had the misfortune to fall off a fence last Monday evening.

She gave her nose a very hard bump. Mrs. Jones will entertain the girls of her school Friday evening, at her home on Indiana street It will be a valentine party. Our eeofrraphy classes are writing compositions about the countries and the people of Asia. Some of these compositions are very interesting.

CLEANING AND REPAIRING A SPECAILTY Here are some interesting facts for Neodesha pupils: It would take an enrollment of 6,000 students in our schools to secure the same number of cases of tardiness that Thayer has on an average. They had 108 tardies durincr the month which ended January 24. If we had the same enrollment that the "healthiest town in Kansas" school has we would have about two tardies a month. we are all right for punctuality.

How about VOCAL MUSIC. B. S. Hoagland, of Hutchinson, Kansas, manager of The Kansas Musical Jubilee, which lastMay distributed in premiums in musical contests $3,000, will be in Neodesha for two week's work in vocal music, commencing February 17, 1896. Mr.

Hoagland is one of the best musical directors in the west, and comes to Neodesha under the auspices of the city schools, affording the people of Neodesha and vicinity an excellent opportunity for a rovival in vocal music. An adult class will meet nightly in the high school room. Private lessons given if desired. Mr. Hoagland will be glad to test voices for those desiring It- For particulars, prices, etc, call upon or address G.
