A quiet day at home gives a man time and piece of mind enough to reflect upon the greatness and grand ure of his country. New home grown potatoes are now on the market. They are exceptionally large and nice and what is more encouraging to the spud eaters is that the crop is one of the largest in the history of the country No three dollar a bushel potatoes next winter.

D. Frantz for two months and a half, left Tuesday for her home in Buffalo, N. Y. She had a pleasant visit and was quite well impressed with Kansas and especially Moundridge. John Regier has bought a Hart-Parr gas engine, which he will use with his threshing rig this season.

The engine was purchased in Marion county and Mr. Regier brought it over here over land It was a long trip but the monster made fairly good time. The new auxiliary pumping station on the north side of the Western Hardware Co's. store is now in working condition and is pumping into the mains when ever needed. It is thought that this pump can furnish more water than the big well at the power house.

The quality of the water is excellent and the expense of operating the small gas engine is small, It is hoped that the new front fever, which has prevailed in some of the neighboring towns has struck Moundridge at last. The C. C. Wed-ed Drug Co. has set the pace by tearing out the old four pane windows and replacing them with plate glass.

It is an improvement for the drug store people and for Alex A. Ditter. The out side appearance is improved and the light inside the store is much better. 0 Moundridge is third in the number of automobiles and motor cycles in McPherson county.
