Special Correspondence. Mrs. John Chamberlan has erysipelas on her face. Abram Johnson was in Kansas City last week. Miss Atkin.s, a friend of Minnie West, visited her Sunday.

J. Frank Pool waS unable to be at the store all last week. L. B. Welch is having a well dug by Brown and Clark.

U. held their business meeting, Sunday. Frank llerlock, of Iola, was visiting friends here Sunday. Frank Welch and family were down from Bronson, Sunday. Nora Ralston went to Uniontown Saturday to visit a few days.

Andy Hawkins, who has been quite sick with mumps, is better. L. Bulla and wife were in town Thursday and went to Ft. Scott. Ira Bolinger has built a new barn on his property north of the R.

R. Clint Grover has been quite sick the past week, but is able to be out. Jake Zook came down from Iowa to attend the funeral of Mis. Ruthrauff. F.

M. Ramsey left Friday for Uniontown, where he remained over Sunday. Willie Seclar and sister, of Ft. Scott, spent Sunday with Miss Daisy Lease. Abram Johnson has a position with the Western Grocery company as traveling salesman.

Andy Bockover and Miss were married at Bandera, Monday. Good luck to you, Andy. Judge Cheney, of Ft. Scott, was here Friday, working for the antimachine republican party. Elmer Dyer has returned from Iowa after a stay of over two years.

His auct accompanied him home. The young folks had a leap year party in the Woodman Hall Tuesday night. Fruit and cake were served for luncheon. John Shenefelt was informed last week of his sister in lowa giving birth to quadruplets, three girls and one boy, all living and healthy. Some of the boys here took pity on Dick Smilie's pony Sunday night and fed it some corn and hay and tied some crackers for Dick's supper to the saddle.

When Dick returned he was very much surprised to find how kind the boys had been. Asleep In Jesus. The death of Mrs. Ruthrauff occurred on Thursday evening at 8 o'clock at her home. While it was known to the members of the family that she could not survive, her death has nevertheless caused deep regret among her scores of friends and acquaintances.

She was sick only a shore time. She was one of the pioneers of Bourbon county, having lived here nearly all her life. She was a good, Christian woman, kind and loving to all. For many years she has been a devoted member of the Paint Creek Dunkard church. Maggie Bolinger was born July 27, 1840, in Pennsolvania.

When she was married to David Ruthrauff they moved to Kansas and have resided here ever since. Unto tnem was born four sons and three daughters, namely: George, Jake, Will and Mike Ruthrauff, Mrs. Etta Post, Mre. Lillian Miller and Mrs. Clara Wray, all of whom reside in this county.

Also surviving her are four brothers, one sister and seventeen grand The funeral services were held Saturday at 9 o'clock, p. m. from the Dunkard church and was largely attended. Rev. Crumpacker, of the Dunkard church, preached a beautiful sermon, paying a high tribute to the life and character of the deceased sister.
