This few are always willing to talk about getting up soms scheme to cause a boom so they could make two or three hundred dollars on every dollar invested. This is all right enough; we leve to ee men prosper. 3ut when tha time csrxa that somo money had to be raised to carry out tbsir schemes they would weaken and their schemes would fall through. don't believe there i a man in the Lodge that will differ with us in this. As we have said before, all their schemes to get a beom have so far failed, but dw they have become so anxious to lat go of their 6x10 lots, as it has commenced to burn, that they ara willing to do most anything to create an excitement so they can sell, and it makes no difference bow dirty low th scheme is. They have began to think it is now or never and we predict it is never. They are trying to vote $125,000 worth of honds on the county to gat tham a nameless railroad.

They have alto induced Kiowa to- join them in their as th railroad has agreed to build to that point if the bonds are voted. This, of coarse, is no eurjpriae, as Kiowa has already road a a wide-world reputation of doing dirty work, especially during elections. There ara -papers and papers, but Western farmers, stock-raiser and business aaen have learned by ysais of experience that they ara always safe in relying on tha long stallished weekly Live-stock Indicator, of Kansas City. For the quantity and quality of its matter it 13 unsurpassed, and as an accurate mirror of tha live-stock, grain and produce markets it is invariably consulted and quoted both East and West as tha standard authority. Its low price of $1.60 per year, five copies for $-5, (if gent at ona time, puts it within reach of all, bene there is no reason why the poor man should not be as thoroughly posted as'his more fore handed neighbor as to where, when and how to sell at the highest and buy at the very lowest prices. It sems to be the aim to make it indispensable in every houe-hsld. The January number, which has just arrived, still farther carries out this idea, having added a usw department, "Our Girls," which will show this'portion of the family ''some waysf btst out of life." Tha "Household" department is not merely a series of receipts, but is full of practical suggestions. A L'prizo is here offeredfor the best series of menus for the soperatc clays of the wc-f-h; nnd under the head of "IIocs Art nd Home Comfort" another psi.e is offered "for the moit practical suggestion of remunerative work for women, to do at hrae." Many women ii; watch anxiously to see what this fier will bring forth, as information on this point is just what they are looking for. The new story, "Allan Qurt-tarmain; or, A Frowning City," by H. And ia o. dar to convince the voters of the county that it is to their interest to vote the bnds yeu an5 teld fehat it will give js fsrtv miles of railroad for taxation. Kow let ns see what the $15,000 bonds have done for Medicine Lodge township.

She has the road i tax. Real estate is assessed at doubl what it was in 188-5, and yet thay pay tha same or a little higher rate thaa they did before. In other words, a mat who paid before $100 tax now pays 5200 with all benefits of railroad tax. Xow let us examine the affect af aur own Lake City township. We are paying intsrest on $4,500 school house bonds and they have raised our taxes from $2 to $7 an the quarter section.

Suppose we vote th; bonds. Our proportion would be about $20,000, there being six townships in the tha county. Now is it not clsar that at ths same ratio our taxes would be increased from to $20 more on tha quartar saction. Any F-chool boy 10 yaara old will tell that if $4,500 has increased our tax from $2 to $7, $20,000 and something weald give vis an additional increase of from $8 to $20 which would virtually bankrupt the county. We respectfully a3k tha other tawnships to give the result of ths bonds in their respective districts, and to rise up as one man to throttla intrigue and corruption.

Do not ba duped, fellow voters, by such both as this, "that every railrotd tax receipt is a certificate of stack in the railroad com any for which tha Vonds were vated. There are men ordinary intelligence on general matters, and of ripa mature years, who go about preaching and pretending to believe such itufl. We are not opposed to railroads and other internal improvements, but we ara apposed to people building roads for the special benefit of a certain town or towns, and thi is the aim and and of the proposed bonds. Dr. Korious opened the exercises with a short Ulk on "what is Christmas." and then there wa music by the quire, after which Cb.v?. Carl and J. M.
