Me. Editor: As my name came before the people of Wilson county as a candidate for Representative of the 63d District, I wish to say to the Republican party in this county, that I did not know that my name was being used until I went to the polls on the day of election. I wish it distinctly understood that I did not authorize the use of my name, and that I was never consulted on the matter at I was not an aspirant for political favors, but if I wasI would want to come before the people in such a way: that I could conscientiously ask their support. I frflly endorse your opinions in regard to the duties of the Republican party, viz: that they should give their support" to the regular nominees, those wha were brought but as candidates by regular constituted authority. With all due deference to the feelings and' seuti- property, hay, in1 stack, were, destroyed a few miles east of town by a prairie fire.

Mr. Horning lost all his hay, and Mr. Jonathan. Cox had great difficulty in saving his house. The wind was high, and although he felt secure because of having a large area broke around the house, still he was compelled to keep constantly throwing water on the house and other objects around it to prevent their burning.

Every person living on the prairies should see to it that all the ground within two hundred yardsof their houses is clear of grass, and travelers should learn that we have a law' on the subject of setting out fires. -Fredonia Journal, 10A inst- S.
