Merry-Stewart. Thursday evening, June 25th, at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. B.

Merry, Miss Ruth Celia Merry and Mr. Elvie Nathan Stewart were united in marriage by Rev. Albert C. C. Stewart, brother of the groom.

The wedding was unusually beautiful and unique, taking place on the lawn just at sunset. Before the ceremony, Miss Lois Pennock sang "Because," and Mrs. H. B. Saunders of Nortonville, sang "Because I Love Mendelssohn's March was palyed by Miss Vera Groff of the same city.

The eight bridesmaids preceded the bride and groom, carrying garlands of sweet peas and honey suckles. The maid of honor was Miss Alice Merry, of Erie, sister of the bride, and Mr. Paul Merry, brother of the bride, was best man. The double ring ceremony was used, the ring ers being Masters John Trotter and Vivian McCoy. The bride wore a veil and vas beaut.fully attired in a gown of white crepe de chine trimmed in hand made English lace, and carried a loquet of bridal roses.

An item of note concerning her costume was a beautiful heirloom pin which belonged, at one time, her grandmother. Following the congratulations, dainty refreshments were served and music was furnished during the remainder of the evening. The bride is a talented and popular girl of our city, having attended Baker University for a number of years. CAUGHT THE FUGITIVES 'Buck' Wright and Ora Porter Found in Kansas City "For Gawd's sake, Sheriff, don't arraign ine on Friday," pleaded "Buck" Wright last Friday morning when Sheriff Cummings started to make arrangements for a hearing. And as he had Wright safe in jail and there was no particular hurry anyway, the plea was heeded and the arraignment was postponed.

It may have been his gambler's instinct that made Wright dread arraignment on Friday. He will be charged by the, state with maintaining gambling place near Baldwin City. Wright and another colored man, "bad" men of Baldwin City, have been badly wanted by the county officers since a certain happening, June 13, at Wright's gambling tent near Baldwin City. On that day, Ora Porter, who is not as particular about dates, it seems, as his partner, cut and slashed C. H.

Rice, a white man, in a quarrel over a "crap" game. Porter and Wright were brought back from Kansas City last night by Sheriff Cummings and lodged in the county jail. Wright was arrested some days ago in Kansas City, but the of- ricers made no move to bring him back at once, hoping to get some trace of Porter whom they hoped to catch also. Porter was located working in a stone quarry south of Independence, and the officers at Lawrence were notified of his arrest. Both Porter and Wright have been hiding out ever since the night of the attack on Rice.

They went from Baldwin City to LeLoup and caught a night train to Kansas City. The officers had suspected the course theyhad taken and had had a watch kept in Zephyr Flour Tones' Coffee We have just added a nice line of Men's Boys' Work Shoes These are all A1 quality and our price is right. A charge of maintaining a gambling place was lodged against Wright, and Porter was charged with assault with intent to Friday June 26.

Wright and Porter had their preliminary hearings last Saturday and were bound over to the Distriet Court. Wright's bond was placed at $400 and Porter's at $500. Neither have, as yet, been able to furnish bond. If you want a cement silo we have the plans and specifications for erecting the forms. The cost of the materials is moderate.
