Roy Laird who has been working for Ray Dillingham south of town returned home the first of the week on account of the illness of his mother. F. Wellman and family, of Quinter, Kansas, was shopping in our town this week. Fred is a good "fellow and we are glad to have him visit our town. Scott Smith papered John Dawson's house in the west part of town last week.

Scott says it is one of the nicest finished houses in town since he papered it. J. L. James and wife from south of town, took dinner with J. Coop and wife Tuesday.

While in town Mr, James made the Progress office a pleasant call. Tom Heath is transplanting some large forest and orchard trees for D. C. Kay this week. If these trees live and do well they will be a nice ornament to, the town.

Ottawa, March 5. Inquiries by telephone and telegraph poured into Ottawa yesterday from C. A. Garrison of Hill City, in an effort to locate Frand Garrison, brother of the Hill City man. At Salina a report had recently been circulated and printed to the effect that the death of Mack Garrison, who had worked the past year as a painter in Salina, was dead, had occured in Kansas City recently.
