house and one good, square democratic The TtRRALn has never bid for the couuty printing; it has never been favored in any way by lhe county and bu. little by the party. It has done what it, has simply upon local city patronage and subscription and we it boldly, no ore paper has done more to build up the business interests of Barber county tha the Herald. We have never asked an office don't want one. The Index has had a boom, the Cresset is booming all over with sheriff sales and publication notices with a good fat office to back it up.

The Kiowa Journal editor lavs back on a good ofiice while the paper issues quite a sprinkling of legal notices and sheriff sales, and after all the work ihe Herald has done for the cout- ty hardly a dollar's worth of county ronage has been bestowed. ThenKRALi is opposed to the pernicious policy of letting the county printing to the lowest bidder as there are to day so many wheels within wheels, so many wires attached to secret wires and to use plain language, too much standing in with the dominant party. The Cresset does the county printing for a mere nominal amount. No paper can afford it. Printing is hard work, nerve work and to succeed, a man is obliged to work hard burn midnight oil and he should receive his recompense.

Ohl You say it is til the better for the, conuty, From this position we differ. The county is just-as able to pav men who work at printing as they are to pay other expenses, ami no man that is a man will object to paying legal rates.
