OFFIGRRS AND DIRECTORS: Oh! no, we ain't going to have a grand, old time here on the 4th of July. Everybody says they are going to come here on that day and have an old-fashioned time with general training, ginger bread and sweet cider. Anything we don't have here on that day, wont be worth having. All kinds of amusement going on at the Springs. Yesterday we had a most delightful dog fight between Frank Chase's dog and Will Harrop's.

Harrop's whipped Chase's, then Chase's whipped Harrop's then Harrop's whipped Chase's, They, kept on whipping one another about half an hour, when they shook hands and quit. Bro. W. A. Stuart, iof Kokomo, writes "Dad, send us the news in regard to all good things at the Springs; am coming out about the 15th; will bring some of our people along, who want to locate in Logan county." Says several have made fortunes out of the boom on account of striking natural gas, himself included.

Glad to hear it, Bro. Stuart, if you are rich we will be pleased to associate with you hereafter, as a man is known by the company he keeps. Rain! Rain! More rain! Last week we had nearly three days of steady rainfall. The ground is thoroughly soaked; crops of all kinds are coming on finely, and the prospects for a splendid harvest were never more flattering in any conntry. Farmers are feeling jubilant and have thoroughly made up their minds that there is no better place to live than in Logan county.

Farms are advancing in value every day. There is verily a big boom in western Kansas this year, and Logan county and Russell Springs are getting their full share. Don't locate until you have and seen for yourselves. HOVEY. President: C.
