C. 1L Eidred, one of the directors, yesterday received word re-leasing the Cherokee Strip to the G. Live Stock Association had passed both houses of the Council and been signed by Chief Mayes. The lease is for live years at per year. This, in our opinion, will deijvthe opening of the Strip in connection with Oklahoma.

It is known that quite a little colony iiad lately located at the proposed town of Oklahoma, in anticipation of the passage of the Springer Rill. A meeting was held there last Friday in which all the settlers and boon ers participated, and it was unanimouly resolved, in view of pending legislation formally abandon the territory together with such improvements as had been made; aud accordingly the boomers pulled out for their homes in the states. Under the bprmger Hill, it is an actual disad-! vantage to be an invader, and all such are prohibited from taking an; land whatever. The idea is to put all men an equal footing. It would not right to permit men to go and select the best claims for settlement or speeu- ationbeforo the country was iornially opened by proclamation.

It Is not afe now for hunting parties go into the Indian Territory, as has been discovered withi'i the past ten days. Last week Amos Chapman, the scout, with a lot of Indian scouts from Camp Supply arrested about fifty hunters on the Cherokee Strip, in the vicinity of Keystone Station, and look them Camp Supply, and the announcement has been made that every intruder will be arrested. The practice of Chap man and his gang of scouts is to arrest the hunters, and either steal and sell, destroy their outfits, aud if the hun- teiS Iiae money tO pay Way OUt, inej win oe anowea 10 return to their homes. A party of four from this city started down hist week, but were warned before thev got into Chapman's clutches, and returned here. It will be safe to go down there iust yet on hunting expedition.

Louis says that he could i find lots of trading property, but none as desirable as a number of our little homes here. TLats what we think too.

The following we clip from an ex-! change of which some of our citizens should read and act accordingly: It isn't good policy to go away from your own town to buy, hen you can get the article of your home merchant as cheap as in another town. It is your home merchant you go to for an accommodation, when 'you are in need of it. therefore he has a claim upon you when you have the cash to buy with.
