Sun City Under the laws of Kansas, it requires twelve of the fifteen grand jurymen to find a true bill. The grand jury was ordered by Judge Ellis after he had been requested to so by the following petition: Medicine Lodoe, Kas. Dec.

24, 1SS6. To Hon. Ellis, Judge of the Dis-trect court for Barber county Kansas. We the undersigned county officials and citizens of said county having at their heart the best interest of this county, would most respectfully ask your honor to order a grand jury for the February term of the district court for the year 1SS7. believeing the same to be beneficial tc this comity and agreeable to the majority of the citizens and tax payers.

For said order will ever pray: A Jones, OC Howe, II II Hardy Aber, JP Hall, County Attorney, elect. Probate Judge, Deputy County Surveyor, Register of Deeds, Bouse, Deputy Register of Deeds John Iiogers. County Treasurer. KMcPhersou, Deputy County Taliaferro, County Clerk, A McNeal, Representative. Lindsev. Undersheriff, Now that the holiday season and the season for festivities are over let us all settle down again to the good work of upbuilding our town. The result of the work done during the past year has been gratifying to us all, and should encourage us to renewed efforts in the future. Lot no one wait for his neighbor to act, but each and every one do their part and do it well. Do not seek to discourage the men who have had their shoulders to the wheel in the past, but join in with them and help give our town a mighty push toward the front rank.

We can all do somethimg in the right direction and every little influence helps. Sun City to-dav enjoys the rep utation of being the best town in the county west of nlge, and with all the natural advantages surrounding us, and-the united' efforts of all our citizens, we can become, ere another year rolls around, the first town in the county. Let us arise then with one accord and go to woi k. It is pretty generally understood that the Wichita and Tr.ir.idaU will build from Harper to Medicine Lodge and as their course lies in a wesiernly direction we see no good reason for the tow ns along the Med cine valley not being able to secure the road. The proper kind of work if attended to promptly and pushed vigorously will accomplish wonders in way of securing raiboads.
