m. John dlli Sees The Light. iola, Aug. 28, 1 Tve had enough of unning a joint in Kansas," jays John Gill. Coming from John Gill the statement was of more than ordinary interest, because for the last fifteen years he has been one of the joint kings of Kansas.

He owned the Eagle building, wrecked by dynamite July 10. He had made money, and lots of it. I am tired of it," he said. "It is a bad business. Im distrusted with it.

A man in that business cant amount to anything. He can make money but that is all, He 1b. on, outcast. Iam tired of the business, because its a disgusting business, and Im getting out of it as fast as I can. Of course, I still own some interests more or less intimately cohnected with the business but I am arranging to get rid of them as fast as I can.

I am out of it for good. "I am no prohibitionist," continued Mr Gill. I dont want you to get the idea that I am taking that stand. "But fighting the prohibition law is a hard proposition and theres no satisfaction in it. You never know whese it is going to end, or when you are going to wake up in jail.

You are worried all the time, and harassed in a hundreddifferent ways, and you earn all the money you make out of it. Johr Gill came to Kansas fifteen years ago from Missouri. 'Ever since that time he has been engaged in the saloon business. In Strong City, Le Roy, Emporia, Osawatomie, Garnett, and Iola he has sold liquor. He is now engaging in the more legitimate line of running theaters.

He has the Star theater at Atchison, which will open September 4, and he is trying to get leases on a theater in Leavenworth and another in Topeka. These theaters, which will be vaudiVille houses will be fun as strictly as high class houses, he says. No liquor will be Bold. As an evidence of his sincerity, Mr. Gill told of his experience at Kansas City.
