John and Lew Glick are back from the west and are looking fine. Miss Fabin, of Topeka, was in town on business the first of the week. Frank McCue went to Atchison, Saturday, to visit a sick relative.

E. Sipes went to Leavenworth, to attend the state re-union. Miss Henrietta Smythe is visiting with Miss Beth Jones in Leavenworth. Chester and wife, of Illinois, were visiting friends in the city this week. We hear that Erbacher Bros, will light their store with gas, on the same plan as does Pessemier.

Matt Ilannigan came up from Topeka, Monday, lie has grown to be a bright and handsome young man. A detective has been in town for several days working on the Redhouse case. He pretended to be deaf and dumb. Win. McMullen returned from Kansas City.

Sunday night, where he had been kavorting with the Karnival Ivrewe. T. F. Ramsev will move his family to town in about three weeks. They Will occupy A.

B. Pools house on Durink street. We are in receipt of a letter from John McFadden, of Osawatomie, in which he sends regards to all liis lady friends. He likes his place. J.

T. VanDeusen has declined to run for township clerk, and Charley Ron-nau has been placed on the ticket for the position. Charley is a solid man and will make a splendid race. J. E.

Murphy bought a bunch of steers for Patrick Cox, last week, and sold them on the way home, clearing 240 for his employer. Jim is shrewd and the sort of an employee to have. B. C. Mitchner and Ilib Case have been employed by E.

G. Nadeau to take the ejectment suit of Laughton vs Nadeau, et al, to the U. S. Supreme Court. The case will be fought to the bitter end.

Editor Graham, of the St. Marys Journal, was a member of the Sixth Kansas Cavalry, and was present at the reunion of. this organization held at Manhattan, and made the boys a good speech.1 This is the first time he has met with his comrades in these annual reunions. Onaga Herald. Bro.

G. Nadeau was in town, Tuesday. The graphophone at Pessemier Cos. Mrs. Henrietta has been on the sick list this week.

Peter Steinmetz was in from the reserve, Sunday. Mrs. T. W. Lee returned from Kansas City, Tuesday.

F. Seixal, of Oklahoma, was in town Saturday. For dry goods, furnishing goods, etc. go to Urbansky. Miss Mamie Ilutler was up from Silver Lake, Sunday.

Mrs. J. B. Levitt will leave shortly to visit in Illinois. The Journal has had a big run on job work this week.

Ignatius Richstatter returned from Oklahoma this week. Mrs. Tom Montague and babies returned from Newman, Monday. It will pay you to go and inspect Urbanskys new invoice of fine cloth- in- Mrs. WT.

II. Bannister ancf daughter, Miss Maude, left Sunday for Sedalia, Missouri. i J. T. VanDeusen has earned his money sprinkling the streets this summer.

Mr. Luke Finn enjoyed a visit from his brother, John, of Tonganoxie, last week. A. P. Scritehfield, of Havensville, was a pleasant caller at this office Saturday.

We hear Will True is figuring on putting up a business building on his lot east of Rezac. The firm of Sloggett Dunn will dissolve. It is probable that Mr. Sloggett will retire. We hear that between Parrot, Patterson and others there will be 50,000 sheep fed at this point this winter.

Josiah Reed, of St. Clere, shipped in from Colorado, Tuesday morning, 1,500 head of sheep, which he will feed at St. Clere. Ernest Allen has rented Charley Dimlers new building, and as soon as it is completed, will, move into it and run business on a more extensive scale. Gill Johnson are now snugly located in their new office in the postoffice building, where they are ready to furnish feeders with any amount of cattle on easy terms.

Mrs. George Taylor had the misfortune to fall upon the floor in her home, Friday, and break her wrist. We hope the estimable lady will soonrecover the use of the injured member. Prof. Samuels, the of Topeka, will be at the Meister Hotel, Wednesday, October 20.

He has also begun the erection of a business building on his lot west of Pessemier's. He is looking happy, and his hosts of friends are glad of his success and return.
