F. Holtz. Charles D. Chase, of Columbus, Ohio, is responsible for the following: The Salvation Army i9 here as strong as ever, They sing some very funny songs. This is the chorus of one of the souga.

The devil and me cannot agree, Good bye, old devil, good bye. He had me once but let me free, Good bye, old devil, good bye. He hates me and 1 hate him, Good bye, old devil, good bye. Reports from all quarters go to show by the votes taken on the question of women being lay delegates to our general conference, that the church is largely in favor of it. The holidays are near at hand.

It is right to think of these days, Christmas and New Years. It is right to rejoice and be glad on Christmas, because of Christs coming into the world to save man fiom sin. It is right to be merry on New Year, because of what God has done, for us, and our lives are spared. It is wrong in the extreme, on these days, to give our thoughts and actions to evil. No better religious paper for general information can be found than the Central Christian Advocate.

It contains every week special news concerning our Conferences and reports from the various preachers. Apply at once to your pastor and have him send it to you. You cant well afford to be without it. There are many brave people, in their own estimation, but many mistake stubbornness for bravery, meanness for economy and vileness for wit. Are you a fault finder Nothing is easier than finding fault.

No talent, no denial, no brains, no character is required to set up in the grumbling business. Obituary. Napoleon Bonapart Sims, was born January 15, 1832, in Rush county, Indiana, and departed this life November 15, 1890, in Miami county, Kan. He was a volunteer in an Indiana regiment and served his country as a good soldier. His disease which he contracted in the army, caused him to be a sufferer down to the time of his death.

He was converted about 35 years ago and joined the old school Baptist church. Six years ago he moved from Indiana to Kingman county, and there united with the United Brethren church. Three years ago he moved to Miami county, north of Jingo P. and united with the Methodist church and lived a consistent Christian. His fatal disease was heart trouble and thushe was summoned unexpectedly by the messenger Death.

The Sunday previous to his death he was at church and took a part in the singing apparently well. The night of his death he sat up reading until 9 oclock, then retired. Along in the night he awoke Mrs. Sims and asked her if she would fix the fire. He said he was going to die and asked his wife to pray, and he prayed, then said, I am now ready, and lay down and very soon died.

His remains were laid to restin the Jingo cemetery. The funeral was preached by his pastor from these words, There remaineth therefore a rest to the people God. Protracted meeting is being held at Parker. The church has somewhat rallied and has had some accessions. The pastor will begin a series of meetings in Fontana about the 15th.

The vote on womans question was taken on the Fontana charge and resulted as follows Fontana, 22 for and 2 against Cadmus, II for; Parker, 7 for and 1 against; Prairie Home, 7 for. The last quarterly meeting of Fontana charge will be the 11th and 12th of January. An Epworth League has been organized in Fontana. Pastoral Letter No. 3.

Dear members and friends of the church I write you this letter, I trust in the spirit of the Divine Master. I hope my daily walk and conversation indicate to you that I am a man of God. I love those whom I am serving and my daily prayers are for all and that all may have Christ, the hope of Glory and that none may be deceived by the cunning devices of Satan and have their souls eternally lost. Every human being may have the privilege of keeping out of the power and grasp of Satan, and live all the while with the sweet assurance that he is Gods, and day by day may sing God is reconciled; Ilis pardoning voice I hear, He owns me for bis child, I can no longer fear. The busy summer season is gone.

The sun has done great things for all nature but has the Son of Righteousness done a great work on your soul? Is he keeping the darkness of sin out? Have you the Son? If so you have life, For he that hath the Son hath life, and he that hath not the Son hath not life. 0, my friend, see to it that you constantly have Christ. This is the time of review. December will soon be gone. Are you reviewing your actions and words of all the months of 1890? Do you find you have lived up to the line ot Christain duty the very best you could? Have you prayed as much as you ought? Have you read and studied Gods Holy Book as was your privilege? Have you manifested that interest in the church that you should? Have you not often neglected the House ol God? And have you conversed about Christ and his power to save in your homes, as well as elsewhere? Do you know that Jesus eaves you from all sin? If you should now depart this life, do you know that you have a clear title to the inheritance prepared for the children of God? To sum up all, do you love the Lord Jesus with a whole heart? 0, my dear friends in the dying of this old year, study well these questions, then let us.
