SpearvSlla, complete success, both financially and socially. The ladies deserves much credit in making the evening's enjoy- men harmonious and pleasant. Good music and social chatting preceded and succeeded the evening's meal, and all seemed to be inspired to vie with oneanother in being polite and socia ble. Thessocial meetings should orcur often as tliey have a tendency to drive awav social morbiddess and more closely ally the social relations of the neighborhood. Most humau beings ate constituted with a friendly na ture and at these gatherings tins friendliness is cultured.

We hope our ladies will soon give another of these entertainments. The net evenings receipts were $23.26, which is to be applied to the purchase of an organ for the Sunday school. Mr. ami Mrs. J.

Wilson, on last Sunday afternoon attendod Sunday school at the school house just north west of town. After school, upon an invitation from J. W. Goslee, our party, in connection with Mr. and Mrs.

Miss. Belle Goslee has a very fine Beaty organ and can preside at it in a vety creditable manner.

TheScmire has one of the finest farms in this section and if left in its present shapb will make him a nice home. The A. K. C. survey runs within 20 feet of his house and if built will very much mar tho beaiitif ulness of the place.

II. B. Boll presents himself in this issue of the Standard as a candidate for Sheriff subject to the action of the Democratic nominating convention. Mr. Bell has been entrusted with several positions of responsibility in the county, ami from what wo learn has civen satisfaction.

He at the present time, is county commissioner for the 2nd distr'et, and two years ago as deputy U. Marshal.
