It cannot be said that the means of protecting RattleSnakes. During this spring, thsre have been an unusual number of rattle-snakes in the country.

Three persons have been recently bitten by them, on Mine Creek, and one a daughter of Mr E. Perry died from the effects. The bite was on the back of the littl girl's hand, and tte virus appeared to have entered one of the large veins, and diffused itself through the system to such an extent, that physician's skill was unavailing to the little sufferer. On her return, the child was still in' the cradle but what was the terrible anguish of the mother to behold on entering the room, a rattlesnake in the cradle with her child, and the chiid playing with the snake, unconscio us of any danger. The snake had bitten the ch ild several times on tbe hands and face. The mother killed the snake, and poured brandy or whisky down the child till was made drunk, which neutralized the effects of the snake poison, and saved her child. Several rattlesnakes have been killed through the neighborhood, and one was killed on Main Street, in this place, near a week ago.

There was some loose lumber being removed and as a board was taken up, the snake lay coiled up beneath. No one hurt, but the stake, which was killed. JL HEdef endant, C. R. Jennison, ia hereby notified that he has beeu sued by the said Plaintiff, J.
