Nearly every time some old bum is arrested in that eity, thosa papers, the leaders of high civilization and moral rectitude of that burg, say he was from Holton or Jack -on county.

Last week said that a man holding public offiee in Jackson county, and an rx-newi-paper man of Holton, had been arrested in a bawdy bonne and fiued $5 each. If it was an official of Jackson county why didn't those papers namebim? Why publish an article that throwa mnd in the fiee of every official in this county and shield tho guilty one? There is to much "shielding in high places" going on now.
