October, 1900. THE CHRISTIAN HELPER. 41 PUBLISHER'S NOTES. The low price at which we furnish the HELPER will not justify us in making large concessions to clubs; but we have determined to offer six copies for the published price of the club is made up without any expense to us. There are very few congregations where a little effort will not secure six subscribers or some multiple of six.

Try it, brethren, and thus help us while helping yourselves. The slight change in the appearance of this number of the HELPER, we trust will be acknowledged as an improvement rather than a blemish, and we hope to make other and greater improvements in the near future. ORIGINAL CONTRIBUTION MOSES AND THE CONCLUDED. PROPHETS, By M. INGLE.

Our Second Father -The Origin of the Sons of Renown. The race of Cain and those who had intermingled with it had now been entirely consumed, and only those had been preserved who touched not the unclean things. The line of Adam and Seth may have "comfort" indeed to know that the blood of the first murderer does not run in their veins, and that their second origin must be traced to Noah. All the people of earth have come from this one and his three sons. We then begin to deal with origin 1656 years later than creation and ask the question of each one that reads.

art thou?" We contend that the word of the Lord means what it says, and says what it means, and that the man of faith must take the strait edge of its truth, and test all else by that. As witnesses of the fact that there must have been such a beginning we have all nations that dwell upon the earth, the offspring or creation of God, as a Greek poet (Aratus B. C. 272) has said, and therefore of one blood. But as a matter of fact, there are at least three distinct divisions of the human race, the white, the yellow, and the black, of which all others are only subdivisions.

It is supposed in this present day, by a theory most fearfully and wonderfully made, that the white race are mainly from Japheth, the yellow race, from Shem, and the black from Ham. We will notice this more fully in a later paper, and proceed to get everything on a Scriptural basis, knowing that if the Bible be true, the fact in the case must agree with it, and it with the facts. The one cannot contradict the other, for truth is always consistant with itself. We believe that the Bible, not as emended, patched and redacted by our critics and criticizers, but as it is in the original Hebrew and Greek, is the end of all controversy and that the "sanctified common sense" of all of our rationalistic schools is mere nonsese. Not that we have refused to hear them, for we judge no man unheard, but because we have investigated and found, alas! a rotten log.

when we were looking for sound timber! Confusion worse confounded, and nearly as bad as that at Babel itself, has been the result of the paint of our modern "scholars" who are anything else than wise in the knowledge of God. These are days of doubting and unbelief; knowledge has been increased, and many are running to and fro, and it needs some who are not "foolish ones, and slow in heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken" to come forth and stem the tide. There may be these critics and criticizers, but the best critic we can use in the study of the inspired records, is a quickened faith. faith that, however men may go, or the times speak, God is true, though all men be found liars before him. A question that comes before us of the Saxon race today, is "Whence are we?" Is it possible that a people, SO blessed, SO strong and great, so interming1ed with the works of the Lord God, so renowned, are from Gentile seed, to whom God never gave a promise of world dominion, or is it true indeed that we are the lost sons of Isaac, the lost sheep of Isreal's fold? We look for a solution to the question, and find it in God's word.

The answer, a living answer comes, a living witness steps forward and solves the question. Who is this witness, do you ask? It is the AngloSaxon race, mighty in its power, wonderful in its resources, glorious in its beauty, It is that race whose deeds are recorded in the book, those deeds of glory and of shame. It is that people who can yet claim for themselves those deeds written in the history of a world, that have elated men, yet not without the platform on which they 110 stand being built upon the corses of friend and foe. That witness is ourselves, the Saxon people the sons of Shem of Abraham, of Isaac and of Israel. Do not, gentle reader, put this aside as a mere vagary, for the solution is made upon plainer and better rules than ve know or think, perhaps.

This great riddle is answered by those much-despised men of old, Moses, the law-giver, and the spiritfilled prophets. Jesus, 100; the One of Calvary's fame, the ManGod aud his holy ones. the.
