Lasater Writes Will drop you, and our many friends in Fowler a few lines again to let you know we have arrived at San Diego Fair. We have had a pleasant trip and beautiful sights. We seen many have met many Fowler friends during our short stay here.

We came from Temecula, where we had been visiting Mr. and Mrs. V. D. Walters.

It is a beautiful town near Mount Rubado. We went upon the mountain in a car. From there we went to San Bernardino to Frank Netts where we stayed overnight and the next day was met by Mrs. Marion Nett. She took us home with her.

When we got there we found that Mrs. Nett had been using the phone and supper was waiting. About a dozen of our friends had prepared this and were all there when we supper arrived. After supper we spent a pleasant evening in the park. The next day Fred Nett took us to' Smiley Heights.

We rode all day in a car looking at the beautiful flowers and taking in the sights. From there we went to visit with our nephew and family at Elmonta. After leaving there we went to Los Angeles and visited for a short time with Ben and Chas. Haywood's sister. She showed us her beautiful home and called our special attention to the room she had prepared for Ben when he came to live with her.

We went back to Krisle's rooming house for the night and to our sorrow and surprise found Miss Julia very sick with ptomaine poison. We met several friends here, among them were the following bersons: Jack and Ida Sealock, Mr. ad Mrs. Elrod, Mr. and Mrs.

Otto Myers, and Jesse Karnes. They all send their best regards to their friends in Fowler. When we left, Miss Julia was some better. Will go back there in about a week as we haven't met all the acquaintances there, we had hoped to meet. It is time to go to the fair grounds so I will close with many good wishes to Fowler people.

If nothing happens we will be with you all again soon. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Lasater.

He spoke very highly of Miss Carr's ability as a music teacher. We have heard a number of favorable comments for her and we are very glad that she is making good. More Rain. There were a number of the farmers complaining that the three or four days of hot weather last week was hurting the wheat. There were only a few fields that were really suffering for rain, however, there is no worry now as the rain, Monday night and Tuesday was about right to insure a bumper crop. Mrs. Curtis Miller is visiting her mother near Kansas City.

The little "'Sunbeam" class miss her very much and are anxiously ing her return. Why is it Please? "Why is it?" it is often asked, that some people in small towns can find no better business than butting into other people's business, and then exaggerating the truth about the same. People who pretend to he Christians, who attend church regularly, who in the sight of their neighbors are generous and charitable, yet who without any cause whatever will scandalize one in an effort to ruin his or her reputation, just simply because they are jealous of him or her, and for no other reason whatever. While they would not steal from them worldly goods, yet they would try hard to rob him or her of what is more than gold -a good reputation. Why can't the people practice the Christianity they preach and unto others as you would have them do unto you." -Mullinville News.

The Friends Church is the first to enter into advertising for young men to attend Young Men's Bible Class.

They got some cards about six inches square with printed invitation to attend their church services. The idea is a good one and will no doubt get results. It pays to advertise, and is also progressive. Jenny Wren Club Last Tuesday afternoon, the Jennry Wren Club met with Mildred and Opal McKibben. After the usual business of the club, an hour was spent with fancy work, after which Mrs.

1t Fine Fruit. Linn Frazier received a shipment of cherries from Palisade last Saturday and Monday which were raised on his own orchard of that place. Mr. Frazier gave away some samples and to say that they were fine is putting it mildly. He has an orchard of 30 acres on which are growing apples, pears, peaches, apricots, grapes and cherries.

On Tuesday, Mr. Frazier dropped into our office with a box of cherries, of which he made us a present. They were about an inch in diameter, and just as good in quality as size. We certainly offer our thanks for the gift, FRIDAY Evening June 25th Is the date of the Ice Cream Social at the Christian Church. Everybody invited to come and have a GOOD TIME Quaker Style Wedding.

At the conclusion of services at the Friends church last Sunday. Miss Mary Franklin was united in marriage to Mr. Hayden Kershner according to the old law wherein contracting parties perform their own ceremony and enter into a contract signed by them and witnessed by relatives and friends. The Quaker society is the only one that has a legal right to perform wedding ceremonies in this manner. As the bride and groom walked up the aisle, Mrs.

Lucy Harney played Lohengrin Wedding March. The ceremony was a very beautiful one as well as impressive. The bride was gowned in lace cloth trimmed in lane and pearls. The groom was dressed in black. After the ceremony had been performed, relatives and intimate friends of the bride and groom were invited to a wedding dinner at the home of Mr.

and Mrs. Glen Harvey. The bride is the oldest daughter of Mrs. Emma Franklin, of Wil- mington, Ohio. She is a lady of much talent and personality, having graduated from the Wilmington College.

She taught in the Friends Academy of this city for four years, and taught in the North Branch Academy of North Branch, Kansas, for the past two years. The groom is from one of our best families, and by those who know him in this city, he is considered one of the substantial young men of this community who will make his mark as a worthy son of honorable parents. He is a graduate of the Friends Academy of this city, also of the Friends University. He has spent most of his time working in the interest of Prohibition since he completed his school work.

Last Monday between three and five o'clock in the morning, W. J. McKibben was alarmed when he noticed a blaze of fire from the oil stove and oil all over the floor. On Monday mornings the McKibbens make preparations for washing. They set the boiler of water on the stove and set the alarm to get up at three o'clock to light the stove and then retire until 5 o'clock.

During their absence the oil globe became so heated that it sprang a leak and caught fire. Upon arriving at the scene the blaze had smoked and heated the wood work frightfully. It was a narrow escape that the house didn't burn down. Paper Was Of Interest. We were very much surprised at the extra number of persons calling for sample pies of last week's News.

In fact, our supply was exhausted. Several copies were mailed to addresses away from here. The management of The News is making every effort to show up the advantages of Meade county, and anyone having an item that contains a boost for this community will greatly oblige us by phoning or sending it in.
