Mr. Gorham had just returned from the southern rail road, where he drove some of his beef cattle for shipment. Mrs. Harvey Fuller left on Tuesday's train for Toledo, Ohio, on a visit to a sister, and Mrs. Warner and her daughter, Miss Minnie, took the same train for Oshkosh, Wisconsin, where Mrs.

W. will visit among relatives for several weeks. The ladies expect to return in six or eight weeks. John Owens, living two miles west of this city, has been experimenting in broom corn, lie has in tins year five acres that has made a splendid yield. ltli broom corn worth from sixtv to eighty dollars per ton, and an acre of Comanche soil producing two tons, we cannot see why the raising of broom corn would not be profitable.

Coldwa ter Review. Judge Graves and wife, of Emporia. wore here a couple of days this week visiting his brothers, John. Clay and Judge G. T.

Wednesday night the Emporia judge made quite a lengthy political speech to a large and anmecia- tive audience.
