Richardson and family of Wilmore visited with Mr. Richardson's sister, Mrs. W. I. Wells, and family of Aetna.

Roy Piatt and family, Fred Len-ertz and family and Lewis Spillman took Sunday dinner at the Estill ranch. Bob Sims is freighting for Bill Richardson for a while. On Friday night a pleasing Christmas entertainment was enjoyed by everyone who attended at the Happy Valley school house, where Mr. Hag-erman is teacher. Mr.

Hagerman left Saturday morning for Medicine Lodge where he will spend his vacation with home folks. Mrs. Everett Philips called on Mrs. W. E.

and Mrs. J. D. Bell will leave the first of the week for San Antonio, Texas, and then to Mineral Wells where they will spend the winter. Dr.

McCroskie took very sick last Saturday evening with acute indigestion and Doctors Holcomb of Cold-water and Craig of Protection were summoned. The doctor had been confined to his home most of this week but is recovering very rapidly. Miss Lizzie Behler writes that she has so far recovered from a recent operation in the hospital at and -that she would be able the 18th of the month to go to her brother's at Tulsa, before returning to Wilmore. Silas Ray of Wilmore, solemnized at 1:30 on December 19, 1922, at the Baptist parsonage in Greensburg, Kansas The Rev. A. H. Dent of the First Baptist church of Greensburg read the marriage service with only Mrs. Dent and Miss Maxwell in attendance.

Miss Aelzine Booth is the youngest daughter of Jim Booth of Coldwater, and is a popular young lady among her wide circle of friends. She was a graduate of Wilmore high school with the class of 1922. Mr. Silas Ray is the youngest son of Mr. J.

Ray of Wilmore and is a trustworthy young man. Ke was a graduate of the Wilmore high school with the class of 1921 since that time he has been employed with the Wilmore Hardware Co. until just recently when he moved to the Ray farm west of town They are now at home on the Ray ranch west of this city. cation. and Mrs. E. E. Pounds of this city, is teaching again in the Lords-burg; New Mexico, high school. She taught in the same school last year.

Mrs. Fred Baker returned on Thursday of last week from Protection, where she had spent four weeks helping care for her aunt, Mrs. Jane Fish. Miss Amy Sitler is now staying with Aunt Jane, who is still confined to her bed. land and Eva Draper, are away with home folks spending their vacation.

She is a graduate of the local high school, class of 1920. Mr. German is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy German of the community east of Protection and is an earnest, industrious and worthy young man who is assuredly of that quality and timbre of young manhood that will acquire success and build a worthy home.

Mrs. Clyde Loftin left last week for an extended visit with frinds and relatives in Springfield, Mo. Glen McCulla spent Thursday night with his friend, Walter Case, of Wilmore. The Christmas program at West Creek Friday night was well rendered and was enjoyed by all. Mr.

Several from this neighborhood enjoyed the Christmas tree and program at Duckworth. We are all glad to see Jeff Foree and family in this vicinity again. He has been spending the week visiting among old neighbors. They arrived from their home in Calico Rock, a few days ago. Mrs.

Jim McCay jr. spent Christmas in St. John with Mrs. Mc-Cay's sister and family. Frosty Kessee spent Christmas with his mother, Mrs.

Mary Kessee. Mrs. A. E. Burnett entertained the following at Christmas dinner: John Burnett and family, Harry York and family, Albert Looker and family, Howard Burnett and family (who live with her on the home place), Bill Chambers, Preach Griffith, Ernest Smith and Harry C'ark.

After dinner Mr. Looker, John Burnett and Ernest Smith went hunting and surprised themselves by getting a coyote. Mrs. Chas. Nickelson is making a holiday visit in Sedgwick with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr.

Carl Bird and family. Harvey Marley went to Wichita Wednesday on business. John Darroch has had the pleasure of having most of his children and grandchildren spend part of the holidays with him. Earl Uselman went to Haviland Tuesday evening to be present at a social with some of his former school mates of that place. Harvey Marley and family took Christmas dinner with Mr.

Mar'ey's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Marley. Mr.

Beitler's parents drove in Sunday morning for a holiday visit. Edith Mari3 spent Sunday with her grandmother, Mrs. Klinginsmith, who is still quite ill. December 27, 1922. o-o About three weeks ago in Woodward, quite a sensational murder trial was ended, the defendant being Scottie Morris, who was charged with shooting Mrs.

Jennie Longfellow last April near Woodward. The jury found Morris guilty of manslaughter in the second degree and fixed his punishment at three years in the penitentiary. Morris worked in this county for some time six or eight years ago and was well known here. He is about 30 years of age and is unmarried. T.

and Mrs. Albert Downing spent a couple of days this week with F. G. Zimmerman and family. The Christmas entertainment was given last Friday night at the Fair-view school house.

The house was beautifully decorated. A Christmas tree and a large fireplace were the attractive features. The program was well rendered by the children and then Santa Claus appeared and gave a treat to everyone present. The gifts were then distributed from the tree and all entered heartily into the joyous spirit of the occasion. Mr.

Holmes and her granddaughter, Helen Holmes, are spending this week visiting relatives in co. Mrs. Holmes has three sisters' in that county. Helene Holmes is visiting in Dodge City this week with her uncle, Lloyd B. Holmes, and family.
