THE WESTERN STAR, COLDWATER, KANSAS Miss Ruby Turner is on the sick list, suffering from a cold. Very few eggs are being gotten in this neighborhood. Hens all on a strike. They seem to know Christ Everette Philips. Vaugn DeGeer of the Deerhead vicinity was a caller at the Mrs.

Estill and the Everett Philips homes on Thursday. John Arrington is having wheat mas is near. hauled to the Lake City market and bringing back oil cake, this week. Vernon Wells was married last week while in Wichita to Miss Florence Mills of that city. The young couple returned home Saturday of last week, On Thursday a number of young folks Claude Mains butchered a hog on the 6th.

It weighed near 400 pounds dressed. Meek Blue of Alva was in the Coy neighborhood on the 11th, trying his luck at hunting. V. K. Avaritt has been on the sick list but is able to be at work again and has begun helping Bruce Bragg thresh.

Elmer Huffman has returned to Beaver City where he intends to try the hotel business. All wish Elmer success. His family is still living near Coy. J. E.

Bowen was 68 years old on the 10th but he appears just as young as he did 15 years back. Good for J. E. He has been lots of help to the neighborhood this fall trapping for hawks. He has caught 14.

of Quarrelsome Hollow, made a professional COUNTY NEWS PIKE BREEZES. (Avilla township.) Bob Coles served on the jury last week. Grandma Garten is on the sick list this week. Lloyd Harness made a trip to Greensburg last Friday. Harry Dunn had the misfortune recently to get bitten' by a skunk.

The debate for Friday night at "Pike" will be "Resolved, That a cow is of more benefit to man, than a horse." Emery Newton left Saturday for Greensburg and Haviland. He intends to shuck corn for awhile. Glen McCulla, who has been on the sick list the last two weeks, seems to be much better and will soon be able to attend school again. Word has been received that little Buddy Overstreet has been very sick. Overstreet and children are spending the winter with Mrs.

Over-street's mother, at Newton, Kans. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Canfield have moved into some rooms with Mr. and Mrs.

Lon Daves, where they intend to remain this winter. We are glad to have them in our community again. With wheat below the dollar mark and bran $1.25, per sack, some one is met at the Wells home, and gave them a charivari. Some coon hunters were on Mule Creek the first of the week. The number of coons, wild cats, blind tigers and other varmints caught have not been reported as yet.

Notice. Anyone wishing to buy a first class coon dog, see John Lewis. Price reasonable. Mrs. Myrtle Heide and children spent Saturday night at the Estill ranch.

Philip Lenertz sr. made a business trip to Coldwater on Friday. A real dance at the Lew Draper call at the W. G. Reed ranch last home on Saturday night was well attended.

Sandwiches, cake and coffee were served. A very good time was reported. At this Holiday Season we express to you our appreciation of past favors and wish you a Happy Christmas 9 and a Prosperous New Year week. He pronounces his patient doing nicely. December 12, 1921.

Mr. and Mrs. Fry of Enid, accompanied by their sister-in-law, Mrs. Bennett, and children of Greensburg had the misfortune to run into the "mudhole," two miles east of Glandale school, last Friday. Some people who were returning from a trip to Colorado were delayed at Buttermilk last Wednesday on account of their car needing repairs.

They put up at the "Harvey," house of that city for the night. However as soon as their car was in readiness, Thursday morning they proceeded on their way. They live at Alva. December 12, 1921. Dick II.

Henry helped Bruce butcher a calf while there. We understand that R. A. Ramsey, who is in the hospital at Wichita, is a great deal better and it is hoped that hewill soon be home. Miss Ruby Turner, the teacher at the South school, has changed her boarding place from D.
