THE Pearlette Call Vol, I Pearlette, Meade County, A Meade County Man speaks. EDITOR OF THE CALL; NoT seeing anything in the CALL except what the editor himself has managed to hunt up, I thought I would contribute an article if it was for no other reason than to set the example and help make the CALL what it should be; a county NEwspaper. Every one that is interested in Meade County should take an interest in the welfare of the CALL, and try to make a success of it, and in the long run it will be a benefit to themselves. We have succeeded in getting what was greatly needed in this county -a post office; and this was accomplished by having a newspaper among us. We can now get our mail without going 30 miles, or bothering some kind neighbor.

No ONE has come forward, as yet, to remind us that he made an error in coming to Meade Co. Singular, is it not Kansas, June 1879 No. 3 RAIN. MEADE County was visited by a good soaking rain, on Friday night, the 17' ult. This was followed by a delightful shower on the night of the 26th, and all vegetation is now looking fine, and consequently everybody feels happy.

Later. The man who said Meade Co. was beyond the rain belt is dead. He was drowned in a buffalo wallow, where he camped the night of the rain. DESERVED.

AMONG the active and intelligent men of Meade stands J. C. Penrose, late of Iowa but a native buckeye. Mr. P.

would be an honor to any community, and we look for him to take a front rank in ours. POST OFFICE. A Post Office was established at Pearlette on the 9th but blanks etc. were not rec'd until the 17th. This is the first office in the county, and is already patronized by about one hundred people.
