Prof. Bowman, of Centralia Kansas, was a pleasant caller at our office last Friday. He is the principal of the High School ofOentralia, and with the impression left with us he is able to fill that position. Mr. and Mrs.

Frank Attwater, late of Rock Island Illinois, arrived in the eity last night and will make Horton their iu-tore home. Mr. A. is one of the firm of the Rock Island Hardware is a young man full of vim and enterprise, and we trust that his business venture may prove a profitable one. Wood, of Marion, passed through this city last night on his way to St. Joe. ne said that Marion was all worked up over a scandal in that place in which two prominent men of the town were charged with having enticed two girls into a room at the Elgin Hotel. The men were both arrested Monday on a bench warrant. Marion always had the name of a goody goody town.

V. K. George, of Geneso, has been in the Magie City for several days past and has purchased several lots. He will propably build a fine residence here in the near future and remove his family to Horton. We invite all of the residents of Geneso to come out nd see the Wonder of the West, and they will then how they could have lived in the east this long.

Mr. Jarvis informs us that the street car3 have been ordered and that they will be here this eek. They are pushing the building of the street car line as rapidly as possible and it will be only a matter of a short time when the ting-a-ling of the car driver's bell will be heard at every street crossing. Messrs. Whiteside Jarvis arc also disposing of a number of lots in the K.

THE BENNIE GEE COMPANY. The music of this company was good but executed horribly and their performances would better have graced the "Coliseum" in Kansas City. If they wil confine themselves to their music and learn to execute it they will succeed, but i 11 their sketch business they will work np a reputation anything but enviable. Insulting respectable people who are mislead into attending their low ballet show, will not be crowned with success long and we hope the brethern of the press of Kansas will pass them around. A Sad Case.

Yesterday Sheriff went up to Topeka having in charge Win. Cash who had been adjudged insane. The unfortu nate man is a son of Dr. Cash, ot Troy. He hashari the management of the Fair- view house for some time and was well liked and respected by all who knew him.

He was wounded and had his spine in jured while in the war and the effects cf these injuries has brought about derange ment of the mind. The watchful care of his devoted wife at the depot yesterday was indeed touching and we know she has the deep sympathy of all in her sad misfortune. His case is said to be an in curable one and we trust that in the very near future he will be restored to his family with the cloud of derangement forever cleared from his brain.
