Fick Co. don't misrepresent their goods to those who are not judges, but they show a man just what he asks for, and if he asks for a wool suit they will show him nothing else whether he is a judge or not. Fick Co. don't keep badly made goods, because they can buy them a few cents cheaper, but pay particular attention to the workmanship and trimmings of all their clothing. Fick Co.

don't have to buy their goods on long time credit and piy high prices, but buy in large quantities direct from the largest factories for cash only, which enables them to buy and sell their goods at the veiy lowest prices. Fick Co. don't say they keep no cotton goods, but they only charge cotton p-ices, and don't ask woolen prices for cotton goods. Fick Co. don't pretend to say that fhey sell goods below cost but what they do mean to say is that they sell goods at such very small profit that they defy competition.

H. T. Wakefield, united labor candidate for the vice-presidency says: "You may call my estimate an extravagant one, but the result in November will bear me out. The united and union labor parties will work together in Kansas. Illinois will give Streeter 100,000 votes, and of 28,000 union labor men in Indiana less than 2,000 will vote for Harrison.

Cleveland will carry Indiana by 20,000 and Illinois by a good plurality. tp 33 a. 27 The following is from James G. Blaine's book, "Twenty Years in Congress." Get the book and read it for yourself: "The tariff for 1846 was yielding an abundant revenue and the country was in a flourishing condition. Money became very abundant after the year 1849; large enterprises were undertaken; speculation was prevalent, and for a considerable time the prosperity of the country was general and apparently genuine. After 1852 the democrats bad almost undisputed control of the government, and gradually became the free trade party.

The principles involved in the tariff of 1846 seemed for the time to be so entirely vindicated and approved that resistance to it ceased, not only among the people but among the protective economists and even among the manufacturers to a large extent. So general was this acquiescence that in 1856 a protective tariff was not suggested or even hinted at by any one of the three parties which presented presidential candidates. It was not surprising, therefore, that in 1857 the the duties were placed lower than they had been since 1812." The estimated acreage of corn growing in Kansas is 6,750,872 acres, and the total product raised in the state will be at least 25 per cent, greater than ever before raised in the state in one year.

The average condition on July 1, as reported to the secretary of the state board of agriculture, was 85 per but secretary Mohler is of the opinion that the many excellent rains which have fallen in sections which seemed threatened with drouth when the reports were made up have brought the average condition up several points. A gentleman who resides in one of the comparatively old counties in the eastern central portion of the state, which was damaged considerably by dry weather, stated to a Journal reporter that more corn' would be gathered there this year by far than was ever gathered in any one year before, for even there the average was fifty per per cent, greater than in pevious year. In the new counties in the western portion of the state the increase in the acreage is far greater than in the eastern counties. Kansas is likely to have trouble in securing granery room for her corn this year. State Journal.
