Kansas Oity.Mo, KANSAS. ENGLEWOOD, There is a strong feeling among the people generally that, the expenses of the city should be reduced these hard times. Our city treasure contains near one hundred and fifty dollars with an income of twenty dollars per month and the city is paying a marshal forty anllars per month and nothing for the marshal to do. There aie plenty of men in Englewood who wid take the place at fifteen dollars per month and be glad of the chance. 1 1 40 2.

ury county was also visited but l'ttle did we see as we only stopped at the eight months old town of Manett which is a city of 2,000 people but the boom is only backed by the railroad interests of which it boasts. Our next was Aurora of Lawrence, the pride of southwestern Missouri which is in a flourishing condition and brags of her 3,000 population and her great mining resources which is growing better every day. There are seven or eight hundred men employed at the mines and building is being pushed rapidly enough, several houses already under headway consisting of both business and residences. The buildings mostly are on the cheap plan but there are some neat brick business bouses being pushed rapidly to completion. All the business and dwelling houses are full and we have seen over fifty tents occupied by families and one tent on main street is used as a business house.

Tow a property is very cheap when compaied with a Kansas town. It seems that the entire excitement is over the mines and speculation in town property is scarcely thought of. All a man needs is a little money and confidence in the place. With this he will come to the front for this country is bound to boom. It is a tine agricultural country as well as a mining country.

Business of all kinds is pretty well represented but a few full stocks of cerlain goods could do a good business here yet. The town is all life with no idle men in it. Wm. Smith arrived here yesterday from the metropolis of the great south west 'Englewood." He has been at me to go in with him and sink a shaft. He said he had the team to haul some polls and a saw and we could make a windless with which to sink our shaft and he considered nothing remaining saye a little perseverence to get rich.

There are two daily papers and one weekly here and all are deing a good business. Board is very cheap. 1 am boarding at a first class hotel for 83,50 some houses charge 2,50 per week and 3eem to be making a good living. Fruit is abundant and can be had for a song provided it is sung to the tune of a little green back. Kespt.
