The peritoneum (lining membrane of the abdominal cavity) tbe greater aud leager mesentery (the membrane which attaches tha intestines to the spine) were all inflamed and jn some places ulcerated.

The intestines were in a decidedly abnormal condition, being on tbe inside peculiarly soft, undergoing a degeneration. Two or three perforations were observed in tbe small intestine. The tissue of the large intestine was delicate as was the small intestine and devoid of elasticity, and upon even careful handling in some places it would be torn or broken apart as one observer expressed it, the tissue seamed to be rotten in some places.
