On Tuesday last, the first term of this school expired, and on Wednesday a public examination or "commencement" was had. As notice had been previously given and an invitation generally extended to all, a well filled house was one of the features of the occasion. A lively interest has been felt iu this institution, ty our people, from its first inception until the present time, and we were not surprised to witness so good an attendance upon the exercises on Wednesday aud Wednesday evening.

The programme of the day was similar to that of other schools of the kind review and examination of the pupils in the various branches of learning, and miscellaneous exercises dialogues, music instrumental and vocal compositions, songs the whole admirably arranged and partaking of the grave, the gay, anJ the instructive.
