Many interesting current events were discussed at roll call. The study was Italy and all topics were ably discussed. After the study some business matters were disposed of and then the ladies were given a contest on The answers were all selections of music and were interwoven in a love story which, when completed was very good. Mrs. Mae Patrick secured the prize, which was a tatted calling card case.

The hostess then served a lunch of sandwiches, salad, lettuce, radishes, ice cream, cake, and coffee. she was assisted in serving by her sister, Miss Nell Huffman, of Tonganoxie, Kas. Club adjourned to meet April 13 with Mrs. L. B.

Miner. Before adjourning the president in behalf of the club presented the Beymer and Wallace Babies with silver souvenir spoons. Mrs. R. A.

Wallace last Thurs- The High School students entertained last Thursday evening, at the home of Mrs. V. L. Bethel in honor of Miss Ruth Gibson's birthday anniversary. The Highschool Students and Faculty were present.

Miss Gibson has taught in our High School for two years and is well liked by all of the scholars. A Scholar. C. E. Vance, Dick Hopkins and Ralph Hoskinson were among the Garden City attorneys attending court here the first of the week.

Joe Jones was also down. The J. s. Patrick household are happy. They have their well in running order again.

Patrick Automobiics Sante Fe, Kans. A Sudden Death. Mrs. Edna Frey, wife of Fred Frey and daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

J. T. Moody, died early Friday morning at her home in northwest Haskell after a short illness with blood poisoning. Sunday, the 26th, she complained of the severe pain from a small pimple on the side of her face which she thought was a boil, The pain increased and on Monday they took her to Garden City for treatment. It proved to be blood poisoning and they were unable to check it.

She passed away early Friday morning, four days after she first went to see a doctor. Her mother had been called to eastern Kansas by sickness and did not arrive at home until after her death. She leaves three small children besides other relatives. Her death came as a great shock to her numerous friends as very few had heard of her illness. It seems doubly sad when a young mother just in the prime of young W0- manhood is called by the death angel, but she was ready to go.

The funeral took place Sunday the 2nd from the home conducted by Rev. Parker. A Garden City quartette sang two songs and Mrs. Mary Green of the same city sang as a solo "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." The floral offerings were profuse and very beautiful. The attendance was very large, only a small part of which could get in the house.

There was probably a dozen automobiles from Garden City and probably twice that many from this county, besides a score of other vehicles. Burial took place in the cemetery at Garden City. The heartfelt sympathy of the entire neighborhood goes out to the sorrow stricken family and relatives. OBITUARY. Edna Belle Frey was born July 10, 1890, in Benton county, and after a short illness of four days peacefully passed away Friday morning, March 31, 1916, at her home.

She was 25 years, 8 months and 21 days old, Edna Moody was united in marriage to Fred Frey September 16, 1907 Three children, two girls and one boy were born to this union. She is survived by her husband, three children, father, mother two brothers, two sisters, and a host of She was a loving mother and a faithful wife and was loved by all who new her. She was converted nine years ago and was a member of the Santa Fe M. E. church.

Mrs. A. Fox has been quite sick for the past week or so, but is much better at present. There was probably 150 visitors in town Monday and some 25 or 30 automobiles. Insomnia.
