President Harrison is rusticating among the hills of New England. That Ingalls letter has stirred up considerable comment, forgery or no forgery. The Cincinnati "ealoonist rebellion" has ended. Victory in favor of whisky. "Wanted A classic definition to ''Terminal Facilities" as applied in modern railroad paralance.

It begins to look as is this terminal facility business was a technical dodge to beat the new $2,000 per mile law. The Canucks seem to be getting scared about the seal plantations in Behring sea. Never mind, you sub jects of Her Majesty, Uncle Sam will take care of the seal fisheries. The Democratic County Central Committee met in the court house to-das at 2 o'clock. Dan Branaman chairman, and Jeff Bowers, of Sylvia, secretary pro ten.

aihe attendance was small, there being but eight townships and three wards of Hutchinson represented. On motion, the first Saturday in September was chosen as day for holding the county convention and the last Saturday in August date for tthe several primaties. The basis of representation was fixed at one delegate for each township and ward and one for each twenty votes and one for each of over ten votes cast for Cleveland at the election in 18S8. Motion that new central committeemen be chosen at the primaries carried. Committeeman then adjourned.

"Congressman Harrison Kelley, of Kansas, will doubtless be gratified to learn that the special election for sheriff and assessor held recently in Bt Francis county, Arkansas, passed quietly and that no disturbance oc-cured at any of the polling precincts. Mr. Kelley can take a rest now until the warm weather is over, on the bill which he is framing to place the state of Arkansas under martial law." As St. Francis county gaye Cleveland 237 more votes than it gave Blaine, while in 1888 Harrison had a plurality of 85, it might appear that there was here a greater freedom in exercising the ballot than there was in Litchfield county, where Cleveland had 471 plurality in 18S4, and where Harrison was 290 ahead in 18S8; where the republican congressman' Frederick Miles, could coerce his large body of operatives into the support of "Protection to American industry!" Hiawatha Democrat. ILSTew" Eq-aestrian jEea.t-u.res Sheriff MHler was transacting lgal busins around Turon ani Olcott Tuesday.

Mr. Milltr has made many warm friends throtghout Reno county during his prssent term of office. He as a candidate for re-election and is very popular among the people. Baring politics, Dan E. Miller is no doudt the most popular of the numerous candidates for sheriff.

He was the only candidate elected on the Democratic tidket, in Reno county, two years ago and will be hard to defeat, for a second term, in the comming contest Turon Headlight. The News headed a quasi justifica tion of the council swapping $20,000 in bonds for probable $5,000 terminal facilities with the following paragraph: One or two of our weekly contemporaries have been trying to work up capital against the mayor and council, because they issued the "terminal bonds before they were earned. It is simply a piece of political demagogery worked up by disgruntled individuals, and of itself is unworthy of notice. After reading the above we felt as if a hot wind had been blowing across our surface for about three days. The Review as the originator of the so-called fight against the HOG road and the council, has never considered the matter from a political stand point; neither has it made a positive charge of boodling against the council; but, the acts of the council have been such as to justify inquiry and the people have a right to inquire why the bonds were issued, singed, sealed and'delivered before a nickle's worth of work had been done in the corporation.

The columns of the Review are open for an explanation, but the claim that the great and only duly christened HOG company were in a financial strait and had to have the 20,000 or suspend operations is entirely too etheieal to stand material inspection. There is something suggestive in the deliberations with which the several Indian tribes are considering propositions to open their reservations to white settlers. The savages begin to see their inability to stay the mighty waves of civilization which are rolling westward as the Star of Empire leads the way of progress in that direction, and rather than be overwhelmed by the rush of the thousands seeking homes there and involved in bloody conflicts against unequaled numbers, they are ready to sell their lands and yield to the in evitable sure to follow in the absorption of the race. Whenever counsel can be given to induce the Indians to adopt this course, the admonition will be in the interest of peace and the safety of person on the prairie. The red man must now be absorbed, not exterminated.

He must be accepted and treated as a fellow citizen and a brother and gradually be made to understand his business rights and how to maintain them. Under such a policy, all Indian Territory will be made to inur to the highest possible benefits for the Indians. The wise men among the tribes see this and their counsels are winning their brethern to the adoption of a course that will bring them nearer in business relations and social inter course to white men than they ever were since the discovery of the country by the bold Norseman mariners. Leavenworth Times. "RALLY ROUND THE FLAG BOYS.

The Grand Army reunion to be held at Milwaukee (August 26th to 31st inclusive), will in many respects, be one of the most noteworthy of commemorative events. There will be no lack of distinguished speakers. But the most attractive features will be the "tie that binds" men who have fought, starved and bled for a sacred cause, the renewal of old-time associations, the rehearsal of war experiences, and the rekindling upon the altar of patriotism of undying devotion to "one flag and one country." Veterans and their friends will be pleased to know that from all stations on the Chicago, Rock Island Pacific Railway, on its main lines and branches both east and west of the Missouri river, the price of tihkets hat been placed for this occasion at one fare for the round trip, while children under twelve and over hve years of age will be charged ond one-half this excursion rate or one-quarter the regular fare for the ronnd trip. When the Sells Brothers' Show, about eighteen years ago, had its genesis, there was nothing to indicate that it was in time to become the largest, the most attractive and in all respects the best zoological, hippodromatic and equestrian organization in the world. The associated brothers there were four of them had but limited experience in catering to popular favor, and their exhibition as at first organized was crude and primitive; but they were not only men or nerve and judgment- they possessed keen and ready perceptions, were eminently thorough, practical, energetic and prompt in all business obligation. With these qualifications they were successful from the very outset, and with the adventitious aid that experience alone can render. their exhibition soon sprang from obscurity to prominence, and cotemporary managers to discover that this new Lochinvar that had sprung up in the west had become the most formidable competitor with whom they had to contend But the enterprising brothers were not at all content with establish ing their exhibitition co-equal with the best on the road. If they could obtain that ultimatum, why not go beyond it? Their Show had become as good as the best; why not make it better than the best? Why not, in point ot magnitude splendor and multiplicity of attrac tions, make it so immeasurable the superior of all others existing that all attempts at rivalry or even imitation would be futile? To conceive was to act; and during the winter just passed the brothers set about to successfully accomplish this desideratum.

They not only added largely to their already immense zoological and mythological collections, and by liberal offerings se cured the services of the most lllus trious equestrians, hippodrmatic and gymnic talent either hemisphere affords, but they made overtures, which were accepted, looking to a consolidation with the notable kindred exhibitions of Mr. S. II. Barrett, which for many sea sons had won favor with the amusement-going public in all sections of the nuion. With this vast augmentation to their own enormous exhibitional organization, the Sells Brothers come before the people of America, reliant in having beyond controversy the larg-and in every way the best tented show ever organized.
