It is hard to decide which is the most disagreeable on a man's breath, the scent of ciagareltes or whiskey.

A party of G. A. II. men will attend the State reunion held at Leavenworth, and camp out during the week. J.

and Mrs. W. A. Loe are taking in Kamival week at Kansas City. Superintendent Case of the Reform atory, went up to Topeka Friday.

Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Cook visited in Wichita last week and attended the fair.

Thompson anil daughter Cora, have been spending the week in Topeka. Dr. and Mrs. Updegraff left Monday for St. Louis to attend the Yeiled Prophets.

F. J. Ward of the American Steam Laundry, attended the Slate fair at Wichita last week. H. Nussbaum, proprietor of the Star Clothing house, visited his branch store at Newton Thursday.

Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Thompson have gone on a visit to St.

Louis and to attend the Veiled Prophets. Mrs. Walter Wible is in Kansas City this week taking in the simds and vis iting her two sisters there. J. G.

Roberts, the popular Santa Fe agent, attendeded the fall festival in Topeka Wednesday and Thuisday. Rev. G. K. Rerry is in Emporia at lending the State convention of the Christian church in session there this week.

For the last year she had not been in health but it was not until within a week prior to her death that her illness became se rious and the last daysof her life carried with it untold suffering and pain, yet she bore it. all with a fortitude and bravery that was noble. Her death was a blow to her friends who loved and admired her for her many womanly traits, true to her friends she whs never so happy or contented as when able to give some help or do some kind act. Her home life was a beautiful and happy one, but she has gone forever, and by her taking away many hearts are made sad.

Words of comfort fail at such a time, and seem empty and unavailing to assuage the grief of the heartbroken husband who feels the keen loss of a loving and devoted companion, being left in the world alone. The remains were laid to rest Sunday morning, and at the grave the beautiful and impressive funeral ritis of the W. R. C. of which the deceased was an honored member, were carried out in all their grandeur and sublimity, upon the conclusion of which the last earthly remains of their sister were lowered into the specially prepared resting place.

Kelly, were among the many visitors at Wichita last week. Dunnett of this city, were happily united i in marriage Thursday evening at the home of the bride in South Hutchinson. Rev. Alfred Hrown officiated. Last Monday week was the Jewish new year "Raush Hoshonah," and was observed as a holiday by our Jewish citizens and to-day being Yum Kipper, the day of atonement, it is also being observed.

Quite an exciting runaway took place on East Sherman street Monday alter i oon. Charley Johnson and W. R. Morrison who were in the buggy were thrown out, but both escapes with slight injuries. The band boys have all returned from Topeka where they have been with the Second Regiment band during the Fall Festival.

They left again yesterday for Kansas City where they ill head the I'riest of Pallas Parade. Miss Hallie Willley and Mr. Robert Schermerhorn, two of Hutchinson's worthy young people, were united in marriage Monday evening at 7 o'clock at the First Christian church, Rev. (J. K.
