FROM CAIITHACE. Deah Sentinel- I have made up my mind to write again. The fact is I am in possession of news which I know will be Interesting at least to the fair portion of your readers. It is aoout wcauings. Just now our town is all astir in these matters Our young men have read "The Vic ar Wakefield," and they all agree with tho old vicar that a man is the best patriot who gets married and raies a triiily for his country.

For some time past there has been at least one wedding a week, and now there is much talk of as many as four and five coming oil in one day I Think of lvo uas oaII FOR CASM. BUO. 'locals" that you are tiiiui.tn'U'il, nnd that is equivalent to telliiisj them that you want to be, I wl-h to siiy to you thatif after six months'ff(V trial in Baxter, you fail to iind nny ono that wants you, just moro over to Carthage, and I promise to help you throiijih, and then you may soon find from sweet experience the truth of the lines which read: "To love, to bliss, their blended souls were given, Aud too happy, anked lie- brighter heiiven. But to bo eerious. Wo bad another political convention Inst week.

I learn there is a new ticket in the field, proposing to "exercise rule," provided the people elect them. What its truo character is, I am not particularly informed. Tho neighbors say it is mongrel; that is to say, it is a gath- crin? of Radicals; who failed to get a 1'osition on the regular ticket, with a sprinkling of Democrats bo, too few in number to make the canvass theiti-sclves, are willing Join their ditiny for tho present with these disaffected ones from tno other party, hoping that a better day will come for Dem ocracy in Jasper county. But the ticket will not win this time. There is a strong feeling among tho Radicals of tho county against taking any step which would in an' degree hazard tho success of tho Stato and national tickets.

In their inent, tho interests of tho Stale- do- maud tho election of McClurg as well as Grant. To divide the party might defeat this. It is true that several of the gentlemen nominated last week profess to support McClurg and Grant. They may succeed in thi. but the people are not sure of it.

It is well known that, they unilo with those who are bitterly opposed to the election of these men, in forming political club. These clubs hold their weekly meetings, in which aro ilh-cussed tbe various issues tho day, but who ever heard in one ol them an earnest plea for the election of Grant to the Presidency, or McClurg to be Governor of free Missouri "i Tho peo-pleare interested spectators of these things, and their minds arc made up to vote for candidates about whom there is no doubt. Tho radicals will carry the county on the 8d of Novem ber by more than two to to one in fa vor of tho regular ticket. This is the opinion of Occasional. eSTBuy your CLOTHING, and BOOTS, and SHOES at PHILLIP'S Ss EOTSFOKD'S.
