has in her possession a gourd supposed to be over 300 years old, dating as far back as 1675. Her grandfather, Green Norris, inherited the gourd from his parents, and at his death G. J. Korris, Mrs. Allen's father, in herited the gourd, at his death Mrs.

Allen became the possessor. She holds it as a sacred family relic and prizes it very highly. The gourd is of an oval shape, the size of a Small cocoanut, and is in a petrified state, of a hard, flinty nature. There are men in Lincoln Neb. who remind the student of human nature of a gold case watch with Waterbury movement, says a local paper.

Farther east we have the same specimens of nature, representing the Waterbury case with full jeweled movements. We call such "old timers." A new counterfeit dollar has made its appearanc in eastern Ohio. It is made of brass, with a thin coating of silver electro-plate. This spurious coin is a good imitation, and is liable to deceive the unwary. It rings much like the genuine, only a little sharper.

It has the appearancejof having been carried in countless pockets, and the stars and figures of Liberty look worn, but the date, 1861, is sharply cut, and fails to carry out this impression. The depressed portions of the two sides are off color looking somewhat blue besides the genuine coin. Since we printed our local page we learn that J. A. May, proprietor of the Telephone will remove his paper to Macksville, Saturday.

Alex is a rustler and if properly supported, will give the people of Macksville and vi- cinty a bright newsy paper. Success to the new enterprise. JIIUJI HI J.J I NOTICE.
