Hinshaw shipped a car of beef cattle from here Tuesday. S. D. Hansen is building a rest dence cn the old Vendig farm. Nearly everybody was fishing the first of the week.

A. S. Bacon, living south of Plevna, was in the city on business Monday. C. E.

Shroder and wife, of Hays township, spent Sunday last with the editor's family. The city council had the pond on upper Main street filled up the first of the week. J. A. Whitehurst and son Howard were in New ton on Monday, return ing the same evening.

Mrs. R. Kimball, of Seiling is visiting her mother, Mrs. Fergus, south of the city. C.

H. Nevins and W. S. Jackson, their families, were visiting friends at Peace Creek last Sunday. Mrs.

J. A. Black and children left last Saturday morning for Huichin-son, to spend a week with Mrs. Black's parents. Win.

Pyles left Tuesday morning for Dilwyn, where he has a few days work tins week, helping E. Kirk fix up for his business. Geo. Batcheler, who purchased the Grandpa Hawk place northwest of town some time ago, this week began the erection of a neat residence. J.

J. Rail went through Tuesday morning on his way to Geo. Batcheler' place, to wall a cellar and lay a stone foundation for a residence. The Sylvia Mercantile Co. has placed a large ice box and meat market fixtures in their store and will supply the demand for fresh meats here.

Daniels. Last Friday evening the pupils and teachers of our school gave a closing entertainment at the school house that was quite interesting. They had spent much time in preparing their program, and all did their parts in a manner most creditable to the school. The declamations and essays were good, the musical numbers were also good, and the Japanese parasol drill was excellent. A large audience attended this entertainment which indicates that our people take a proper interest in their school.
