Wm. Learned, living southwest of town, in Stafford county, was trading in Sylvia Wednesday. Attorney Sayrc, of Stafford, was over Tuesday taking depositions in a legal case he has on hand. Elmer Hook, who resides in Stafford count j', was visiting relatives here the fu st of the week Ed. Barnville and wife went to Hutchinson Wednesday evening and spent Thursday in the city.

Sheriff Long was out from Hutchinson Tuesday summoning witnesses for appearance at district court. Wilson Hook went up to the county seat Wednesday evening to attend district court as a witness. Will Grant, Henry Betty, Curt. LaRue and Harry Shaw were over from Stafford last Sunday afternoon. We may expect another wedding in the near future, in which the party who plants peach trees every morning will be one of the principals.

John Proctor, of Hutchinson who formerly lived near Sylvia and has propery interests here yet, was visiting friends here the first of the week. A. M. Daird, who was recently appointed postmistress here to succeed E. II. Smith served four years as postmistress during the Harrison administration.

Brown. Wilse Jenkins, Thos, Jenkins and Willie Durham passed through here last Sunday en route from Stafford to Hutchinson, where they were taking Mr. Brown's string of race horses for summer training. H. S.

In progressiveness, the incoming adminstiation will have a worthy example in its predecessors. The past two years have brought material public improvements to the little city that have been not only conveient and attractive, but have been a direct benefit to every citizen and every business enterprise in the town. The new administration can do as well, and it cannot hope to enjoy the general approval of the people if it does less, The policy of the new administration is yet to be defined. In filling the appointive offices we feel confident the mayor and council will exer cise good judgement, and we look forward with hope to a fulfillment of the bright future promised the little city in events that unmistakably foreshaddow its destiny. It is a good thing; let us push it along.
