Hello there old comrades: How is business? Rushing, I suppose, right by the door. Well Br van told you there would ba hard times if Mack was elected. This leaves us well, althou-h I am marked quarters but its not De- cause I am sick. There is a plague here called Itch." I have seen fellows with it all over their bodies but as a rule it only bothers in the feet. It forms as a blister and then breaks Into a sore.

It used to bother the "pill peddler" a good deal. But they have jot so they handle it without glove. I saw some of the Ilutchluson boys when they first chr.h over. That was about so mom hs ago. It was just oy chance I got to son tbeni.

We were at Antrolt-s then aud I went over to Sun Fernando after somu ordinance for the company. They came in that dy. They were the last people I looked for. But I saw Pick's htad sticking outof one of the curs aud then I for.nd four of them Mooce, Swift and Turtle. Tbey bad left Erwln sick in tho Nupltal at 'Ma nila.

I hey were in good spirits but mostly were talking about home. I stayed all night with them. I do get pretty tiivd hiking sometimes but when I saw the traps they had to tnko caroof I dldu't caro about tho cuvalry any more. Walter Sliums and I are in the lath infantry. Simmshashad poor health ever since he has teeu here.

I haven't soon him for two months now. He was fooling better then than ho had boon for some ti'ne. Well, I suppose everybody you hear from over hero has done all the fighting. It is different with me. I haven't done of it and I am not looking for any scrap.

We havont seen anything in the pap-rs about the 12th being in a fight so we wont start any false alarm. The regiment is scattered everywhere except four companies which are at head quarters. It is more dangerous here now than it was whon the fighting was going on. Every nigger you met Is a "much amigo' but there are more soldiers killed by thorn than whun tho fighting was going on. Five squads of one company wont out at 3 o'clock after Homo of tho ladroues as they are called.

I don't think they will gyt any as thoy seldom do. You ought to come out here, boys, and start your paper. It does not take much work to run a paper here. You only need a big head line, then on one side put a whisky advertisement aud on the other a b3'-r advertlsemnt Work in wh-it the cold fooled 20lu infantry is doing and toll about some transport coming in without any more ordinance. Then all you have to do is to start the pickaninnies out and ask a half paseto for them.

vveu, laying joKas aside, tils is a fine country all but the people in lt. I feel like the fellow in the penitentiary. Some visitors Cinie through and ono boy was asking the prisoners how they liked the place. Finally he came to this fellow and after talking with him for a while asked him ho ho liked it: Its this way," says the prisoner confidentially, "I don't mind the pan. But just think of it: there are 099 prisoners in herd and I am tho only Republican in the whole bunch!" That's the way with Luzon.

It's all right except the class of people you have t'j associate with. Hoping to hoar from you soon, I re main yours, Dkxtkr Chamheus, Company M. 12th U. S. Inf.

Lose) an Arm in a Clothes Wringer. James MoMullen, who has been working for tho American Steam Laundry, lost an arm Monday in the big centrifugal wringer in use at the laundry. The wringer is a huge iron cylinger with a smaller perforated howl inwde. The latter ia filled with clothes to be diied and is then made to revolve at an enormous speed. The great centrifugal energy developed forces the water out of the clothing through the holes in the bowl.

A further effect of the speed is a terriffic current of air which is sucked in at the top aud forced out through the clothing with tha water. McMullen was holding his hinds in this current of air to dry them when he got one of them so low that the suction caught it. Tno force of the rotary suction of the air instantly wrung his arm oil' at tho elbow. He was taken to the hospital where his arm bad to bo amputated near thrt shoulder. Mr.
