GOOD TIDINGS. A religious paper, issued weekly, and designed to testify and publish righteousness and true holiness C. A. SEXTON, Publisher and Editor. morning, this little girl's papa, gave her two dollars to buy presents.

It was this bright Christmas morning, that Eva (that was the little girl's name,) was tripping along the street toward the toy shops, thinking what a nice time she would have buying toys, when she heard some one cry, (a low, piteous cry,) and looking down Eva saw a poor little boy who looked cold and hungry. Eva felt sorry for this little boy and asked him if he was hurt. "No! said he, I am very hungry." Poor little boy, it is too bad, come with me. And Eva took him into a baker's shop, and bought him a nice bun. When Eva went home, she felt more happy than she would have been, had she used all the money to buy toys with.

Years flew by and Eva grew to be a kind lady, and the little boy grew to be a good man, but he never forgot the day when Eva befriended him. And if we would enter, in at the door, we must follow the good Shepherd and lay down our lives for him; go to the Cross or anywhere he says go and be so obedient that we can to the still small voice of the spirit, and know the difference between the voice of the good Shepherd and the strangers' who are but thieves and robbers. And in the 14th chapter of the same book, Jesus, says: I am the way, the truth, and thejife; no man cometh unto the Father but by me.

Then fit us Lord'to enter in, However rough the road may be; And cleanse our hearts from inbred si, That we may ever dwell With thee. This oneness then will be ours, In us thou'lt take up thine abode, So tasting here, the Heavenly glory in the chastening rod.
