Mr. Jesse Nichols and wife were Over the Uills to Foorhouse Over the Hills to the Poorhoine. Over the hills to the poorhouse, I'm setting 3 sizzling pace; I've mortgaged my home for an auto, And I'm playing'r straight for place. There are others well up in the running, But I'm holding my own, you bet; I can see the roof of the county farm, Aud I'm go'ng to gei there yet. Of course, I can't afford it (There are very few who can), But the familv whined xbout it, And insisted I wasn't a man If I didn't get six cylinder.

A tonneau, some tires and plugs, And go out and speed on the highway With automobuble bugs. So we plastered the house with a lien, The second, I'd have you know; The first for part of the purchase price, And a few other things I owe. My wife said it would be a saving, We'd soon pay for the machine With the difference between the car fare And the co; of gasolene. The girls hd to hire a "shufier," A lantern-jawed sor-of-a-gun, And when Sonny goes out for a joy ride, I'm sorry he hasn't one, For whenever he hits a lamp post Or sends the car into a ditch. I cough up some more spondulix To fatten the bloated rich.

Once I wes known for my wisdom, My business foresight it was keen, But that was before 1 invested In an aid-to-bankruptcy machine. Now others are getting the rhino, Their assets with solvency shine, While I'm on the road to the poorhouse T. Home for the Indigent, mine. Whoopee! Clear the way, for I'm coming; Just passed by a bunch of my friends, All bent in the 6ante direction, Where the road of the scorcher ends. It's the place of the drunken sailor, At the helm of a rudderless ship; Over the hills to the poorhouse, I'm hitting a helluva clip.

We are fully aware of the fact that there is no man who dares to espouse the cause of the common people without making some enemies, but wc know as the days go by that even those may think thev have a grudge now will awake to the fact that the cause we have persued ha3 been right, any way we had much rather face a frowning world because of doing that, that is right than to gaze upon a fawning one because we had stepped aside from the principles of justice and truth. Again we sincerely thank you one and all. for the many kindness which we have lece'-ed at your hand, and as we shall still live a-rnong you and be a citizen of the town, you will ever find us doing all in our power to advance the interests of the town and community, jusc as we have done in the past.
