The Journal is troubled about the dullness of the Republican. Notwithstanding its dullness, the Republican manages to make it lively enough for the Journal. On Tuesday evening last our people were again favored by the Anthony Dramatic Club, which appeared in the dramas ot and "The Flo Wei of the Family." It was greeted by a large and appreciative audience all the available space in the hall being occupied. the introductory play, wSs rendered in a manner highly satisfactory, much better, we think, than when it was produced last winter. Miss Ella Shaw took the part assumed by Mrs.

Henry Arney, when it was on the boards last year, and she showed wonderful adaptability, her positions being both stately and graceful, and her speech measured and distinct. Mrs. Pennock took the part played by Miss Kelly, and improved it wonderfully, her acting being natural as well as artistic. She rendered the pathetic passages with credit to herself and the Club. We particularize in these instances because the ladies were called into service on -AND- Mr.

Walter Gray, brother to Mrs, M. C. Aspinall and St Clair Gray, arrived from Pittsburg, this week, and is visiting his relatives. He is pleased with the country. If the Journal figures on sheriff sales and court notices as it does on proof notices, ($6.00 legal rates) then it is charging much more for that class of work than the Republican.

While we were being served to this extraordinary weather the people up in Iowa, Nebraska and Minnesota, were catching it to the tune of from twenty to twenty-five degrees below T.

H. Stevens, G. B. Shaw Go's reliable representative at this place, made quite a creditable showing for himself the past year- In his report to the on the first List, he was able to make a clean balance that is; did not report a single cent outstanding. When it is taken into consideration that the sales of lumber and coal were very large during the past year, this is a record that should stand out boldly to his credit, and no doubt does.

The Republican came out on time last Well, we usually get out on time and it may not be out of place to remark that notwithstanding the Republican may be late sometimes it never gets out a quarter sheet for two or three weeks in succession, as was the case with the Journal not long since. We received a postal card from Robert D. Piper, at Buck Horn, Dakota, on Tuesday. He says, among other things: "1 am getting the Republican more regularly of late and am much pleased with it in its new makeup, and hope that it may hf as much of a success financially as it is a newspaper. Have been sending you a communication ouch a week regularly for the past three weeks, and will continue to for several communications yet." Thanks for the communications, and also for kin-1 words.
