Another chapter in the tragic history of south-western Kansas closed last Sunday out on the prairie near Shock- posessing age and appearance, had none something displease him. In 18S6, the other cit zns in the neighborhood organized a vigilance committee and resolved to ferret, out the truth of several mysterious events and the many rumors afloat. In February 1890, when Judge Tueo. tkin reachid his home after holding the winter term of court at ItichfieM, he found awaiting him an interesting but brief letter from Col.
