Rulison of Burlingame, two fine old people, who with their son, E. H. Rulison, of this city, own the electric light plant. In the article they explain the situation to the people and promise good service as soon as the plant can be worked over. Bert Rulisou, an expert engineer, is here to take charge of the plant and.

there is no question but what he can handle the engines and give good service. The investment In this light plant represents the savings of a life time to Mr. and Mrs. Rulison. They have worked hard and saved this money for their support in their declining years.

They are now seventy-five years old and the days of their earning capacity are about over. Would It be right and just now for the people of Eskridge to hand $37,000.00 to a million dollar corporation to put in a new lighting system here, and thus crush and ruin in a financial way the present light plant company and cause the savings of a life to be sweep away from a guod and honorable old couple. Why not give decent support to the plant already located here and thus make the income of the light plant enough to justify the management to pay a good man to take charge and give good service without having to dig down in their The Standard Electric Light Company will close its office at 715 Minnesota Ave Kansas, side, August 15 and move to Rosedale, where at present the company will not have to meet municipal ownner-ship competition. The closing of the Kansas side offlcse ends a six year fight to prevent municipal owner ship growth The Standard is a subsidiary of the Kansas City light and power company of this city. It will require only a few wagons to haul away the epuipment of the company once serving the thousands of residents and power plants on the Kansas side.

Eight or nine years ago the company in franchise negotiations was notifying arrogantly the public it could have electricity at ten cent a kilowatt. Then the city started its own plant, after the city officials had let it be known they were willing to give the company million dollars for the plant. Instead of the 10 cent a kilowatt rate demanded by the private company the city started with a rate of six cents to light consumers. This was reduced three years ago by L. H.

Chapman, commissioner of light and water, so that six cents is a maximum rate and two cents a minimum rate to domestic consumers. And the city went through the war period with these rates ami made money. K. C. Star.

Dear Sin-Will you kindly allow us a little space in your paper to say a few words regarding the electric light proposition that is agitating your city at the present timet We see by your paper that a proposition has been submitted agreeing to furnish lights for Eskridge, the city being asked to pay $37,000.00 for the same. We, as part owners of the plant already installed there, wish to make a few statements. The plant there is owned by ourselves and our son, E. H. Rulison, of your city.

We each have about $4,500.00 invested in it. This, on our part, represents the savings of many years money that we have labored for and laid by to support us in our declining years. If another line is brought in there it renders our investment practically worthless. Now if the good people of Eskridge have this matter explained to them and know the financial loss we would sustain, don't believe they would do anything to bring such a catastrophe on us. We are old people now and our earning power is almost and this would indeed be a great loss for us to sustain.

Our son, Bert, has been away eighteen months. During that time we have tried many men to run that plant but they all seemed to fall down on the job. We sent for our son, Bert, to come and straighten things out. He has just returned from Canada and has come back with the express purpose of putting the light plant in condition. Within a very short time we will be able to furnish all the lights needed, i 'He understands the engines thoroughly and will give you good service.

It seems to us that this explaination will put us right before the people there ternally and acts through the Blood on the Mucous Surfaces of the System. Send D. L. Cantrill 5. Knox Campbell 5.
