There will be a great deal less corn the country over and very little less in Harper county from the effects of the dry spell, so that Harper will have the double advantage of a fairly larg crop and good prices for it.

Hundreds of acres of corn in Sumner, Sedgwick and Harvey counties arc burned very-badly and the corn almost ruined, in the river bottoms of Sedgwick and through the eastern part of Harvey counties, the corn crop is very good, bnt large tracts of it, are very nearly mined in other parts of the country. The Methodist concert last evening was a most pleasant success. church was well filled with an Intelligent and appreciative audience. The program, as published yesterday was well arranged and carried out as promptly and satisfactorily as could be desired. Excellent music was had, both vocal and instrumental. G. Woolsey, our music man, on the stage, for his piece alone would have made a first rate entertainment. The rendition of many of the smaller girls greatly surprised the audience, and showed that although this was their first attempt they possess ability and self-possession beyond their years. All know the inimitable style and delivery of Charley Finch, and his first selection so captured the audience that lie was encored loudly and rendered a second piece. Charley is.

a born linguist. The singing which followed Mr. Finch's recitations was highly appreciated. Our Methodist friends are to be congratulated upon affording such a delightful entertainment, and we feel sure our people will be glad to have another such an occasion in the near future. DM.
