A few days ago the Herald stated that a competent and experienced gentlemen would soon start a first class bath house, something the city has long needed.

We referred to L)r. A. L. Hunt and we understand that he has perfected his plans, leased rooms and will soon be ready to open the doors of a fine set of bath rooms, to the public. He has secured the entire suite of rooms above Tendiek's boot and shoe store, thirteen South Main street, and is busy engaged fitting it up for business, "lie will be prepared to give any kind of a bath required Turkish, Vapor, Russian, Electric, Shower, hot or cold, etc.

He will move his office into the same building and will be prepared for business there, in the course of two or three days. Adkins Conway the real estate hustlers have contracted for the erection of a number of first' class tenement hcuses in convenient localities in the city, and will hav them built as soon as the material can be obtained and carpenters procured to do the work. The first two are to be erected on Ninth street, near Washington, upon lots recently bought by these gentlemen. Eachis to be two stories and will cost, when completed, about two thousand dollars. Adkins Conway deserve great credit for placing their capital in an enterprise which will so greatly benefit the city when they might get quicker returns and probably would make large profits by using their money in speculation. The contract for the laying the foundation of the Rock Island hotel has been let to Fraser ot this city and a force of men will be put at work as soon as the material arrives. One hundred and seventy car loads of stone will be required to build the foundation, which it is intended shall be massive and substantial. "The excavation is to be six feet deep. There will be a meeting of the trustees of the hospital Wednesday night at the house rented for a temporary one on the corner of Second avenue and Elm street, for the purpose of consulting regard to the best manner of fixing it up and running it.

A popular meat market man of this city has, it is currently reported, contracted a matrimonial engagement with a beautiful young lady of McPher-son, who for sometime has been visiting here.
