This insult has been thrown at poor men by men who jave been fortunate enough to get a fat job on cattle ranches and by. branding mavericks. The little four months old child of Mr. and Mrs. John Story, of Freeport, died last week. Sad indeed is the thought of being born to die so soon. During the summer months we shall endeavor to visit with every sub-alliance in the county, and thus become better acquainted with the brethren.

Galloway, -l" Jos. R. Rothwell is in the city settling up some business prior to his departure for Little Rock where after a few days sojourn he will transfer his residence to Knoxvilie Tenn. Mr. Clark has purchased the Warren Duncan farm, 2 miles south and 1 mile east of Danville, consideration This is one of the best improved farms in the county and is well worth twice the amount paid for it.

It seems to be considerable of a task for our people to settle down upon any one man for mayor. Shriver, McKee, Hutchinson and Munger are the mostly talked of, and occasionally we hear C. F. Quinby and Mrs Reynolds suggested. S.

B. Growden, of Blaine township, one of Harper county's most successful teachers, spent Saturday evening and Sunday morning with friends and acquaintances in Harper. S. B. called and extended the hand of fellowship with ye editor.

Hon, Geo, H. Coupon left Wednesday for Topeka to look after matters connected with the Botkin investigation, lie anticipates returning in time to lend his presence at the special meeting of the County Alliinc on Saturday the 28th. Geo. W. Morris left Wednesday afternoon for Decatur, Illinois, where he has secured a permanent and lucrative poslton with a Mill Furnishing Co.

His family will remain in Harper for a few weeks yet when they will join him in their new home. Mr. Purcell, of Pilot Knob, attended the M. E. Conference at Newton last week, returning home Monday.

He informs us that Rev. Gillam has been transferred to Canton and that Rev, W- Jones will till the Harper pulpit for the ensuing year. While we- sorry to lose Rev. Gillam we extend to Rev. Jones a hearty welcome.
